New Extreme album, August 12

EXTREME ANNOUNCE FIRST NEW ALBUM IN THIRTEEN YEARS

Saudades de Rock available August 12th on Open E Records

"TAKE US ALIVE' World Tour Launches In Poughkeepsie, New York on July 29

(June 9, 200 New York, NY – This summer, EXTREME will release
Saudades de Rock (pronounced "sow-dodge"), their first studio album in
thirteen years which will coincide with their first world tour in over
twelve years. Saudades de Rock will be released on August 12th on Open
E Records and distributed by Fontana.

The iconic rock foursome - vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno
Bettencourt, bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo –
recorded their fifth studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles
with Bettencourt at the helm as producer and mixer. Saudades de Rock
boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious roar of "Star," the
groove-laden, swagger of "King", a raw funk rock anthem called "Learn
To Love", and the expressive ballad "Ghost."

"'Saudades' was always a beautiful word to me," Bettencourt explains
about the Portuguese album moniker. "It expresses a longing; an
underlying sadness for something or someone that's been missing in
your life, and never quite sure if it will ever return. In this case,
for us, it's Rock and Roll. Saudades de Rock."

Gary Cherone adds, "I like how it expresses that longing we've been
feeling to play for our fans and be together again."

The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band's 2008 'TAKE US ALIVE' world tour
gets underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and
will be anchored by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of
America Pavilion. In advance of the tour, Extreme will be a
co-headliner on July 11th at the five day Rocklahoma Festival in
Pryor, OK.

Oh please be good, please be good, please be good...

I could even put up with Gary's vocals if the guitar riffs rock.

I loved the 1st 3 Extreme albums but wasn't crazy about waiting for the punchline.

I'll have to pick this up - Nuno is fantastic

Well, if it's produced by Nuno then I'm sure you'll get that. I would have preferred to have Extreme teamed up with a new producer but hopefully this new record will sound fresh

that's funny cause waiting is my favorite, lol. i liked his tone on that one the best (drier and more organic imo) and thought gary became much more palatable as a singer.

i have a feeling it's going to be really good. nuno seems reinvigorated, almost as if he's been waiting to this for awhile. although i really really liked dramagods...

Ironically, while I've never been a huge Extreme fan, I've recently discovered "Waiting for the Punchline" too.

If this album sounds ANYTHING like that, I for one will be buying it.

I hear they're going for a similar live sound on the new one, but Nuno doesn't use the Fender Vibrolux any more.

Re: New Extreme album, August 12

I hate that new Album cover. PLEASE I HOPE THE SONGS ARE GOOD. Actually they never really had a cool album cover. The only one really cool album cover was Pornograffiti. I have to say the 1st 3 albums are awesome but that Waiting for the punchline well should of been called WHAT THE FU@k HAPPENED.

I do have tickets for their show here in Boston with Kings X

Re: New Extreme album, August 12

i never knew there was a 4th album! i guess thats when they were fading out.

porno was quality album, nuno's riffs were excellent. Though I prefer 3 sides..I like the long epic songs on that (the 3rd side) , Nuno's playing is so good

First album i have it but never played it much, its hard getting past the hairdos n clothing they wore back then

Feel like digging up 3 sides now to play
