New JP EB/MM Guitar

Found this

http://www.waynedennon.com/photos-dr...20050816.shtml

Take a look at the second picture in the top row (from left). Is that a baritone EB/MM .

André

Looks like it, it's a lot like that OLP guitar.

Re: New JP EB/MM Guitar

It looks like a bass, look at how the bridge is so close to the edge fo the body, and the odd pickup placements relative to the bridge and the neck.

*edit*
Checked the EB site and it is a bass, it's a Silhouette bass they make

http://www.ernieball.com/mmonline/sp..._silhbass.html

Looks like he switched a three way switch in for one of the knobs and left the original toggle slot empty.

Odd, it's got the slot for the 5 way, which is missing, and a Maple fretboard as well. Strange looking proto something, but maple is always good

Yeah, here's a similar thread from a while back on petrucciforum: http://www.petrucciforum.com/forums/...illouette+Bass

he's been using it for a while.

Re: New JP EB/MM Guitar

Hmm a bit strange to use a bass for a baritone. I don't understand why doesn't get EB/MM to make him a custom. Them again could be that he simply likes the bass .

Re: New JP EB/MM Guitar

Well, one man's bass guitar is apparently the other's baritone guitar. The OLP has a 30" scale length and is called a baritone guitar, the MM (posted above) has a 29-5/8" scale length and is a bass guitar. Beats me, it's all in how you tune it really. I know people who would tune a 30" to standard with tiny strings.

Re: New JP EB/MM Guitar

There's an old Guitar Player issue from around 2002 in which John described playing an EB/MM bass on the solo to one of the tunes on six degrees. I'll see if I can find the issue and post the exact month & year.

Re: New JP EB/MM Guitar

i'm pretty sure it's just preference. he does have that 22 fret Les Paulish custom model or two they built just for him.

EB/MM seems to cater to him alot more personally on the custom models, even if the production models aren't nearly as cool (or equipped w/ floyds) (yes, my personal taste is intruding... haha)

Interesting. By the way, I was watching a video of DT doing a Metallica tune, and was wondering if the lead singer is pregnant?
