New Mudvayne

The new Mudvayne album is coming in April, you can hear/see the first single/video at http://www.mudvayne.com

I love it. It's a little more straightforward than what I'm used to hearing from them, but then, it's a single. And it's still their well-established sound.

And the guitarist is playing Ibanez SZs now.

Re: New Mudvayne

You can hear the new Mudvayne album, in its entirety, on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/mudvayne01

My opinion:

Personally, I think it's their best yet. While their first album was definitely the heaviest and most brutal, and I liked parts of their second album, this album has the most flow and variety to it. It's amazingly beautiful in places and brutally heavy in other places. My only complaint is (again) the bass isn't as clear as their first album. But then, they did spend a week on the bass sound alone on the first album. (ended up using a combination of bass amps/cabinets, a guitar amp/cabinet, direct signal, and a shotgun mic pointed straight at the strings of the bass)

I liked what they did on their first album the most, from what I heard, but the new stuff is alright too...

I saw them on kerrang yesterday-wow! cool single, but what most got me was thier image change (again) -they look a bit like spineshank crossed with system of a down! where did the alien suits go? the spikey faced guitarist, dreadlocked beards and facepaint??

Crazy. But cool song, if abit nu-metal by numbers..

You must have seen the video for "Happy?", cool song indeed. It didn't really hit me until I started listening to what the bassist was doing on the chorus, very cool. The rest of the album's even better, including a couple songs (4 minutes and 8 minutes each) that blend together to create a 12-ish minute track. Very cool stuff all around, even if it took a bit to really sink in.
