I'm looking forward to the new CD. Ripper Owens is his new singer, I bet it's going to be really cool. I've always loved Yngwie, I think his music is awesome ! The only Yngwie I don't like is Eclipse & anything he sings on. Then there is that one song that's supposed to be "reggae" or something, ee gad. Otherwise he's awesome in my book.

So, true sadly. I just got this album and it is IMHO flat out terrible. I love Yngwie's playing but the songs on this album are just bad to say the least and Ripper's singing can't anything.

very disappointing...

sorry but it all sounds the same.....

I find that every once in a while I have the urge to crank up some yngwie in the car...

but it doesn't happen that often

He's a great guitar player, but in my opinion he can't write a memorable song anymore to save his life. Even back in the day I only really liked 2-3 of his tunes.

Odyssey 1988 for me was his landmark recording. Joe Lynn Turner singing, Just for that it gets an extra point!

Heaven Tonight is a Fantastic song-Strongest song writing for YJM IMHO

Trilogy #2 for me

The Yngmeister is a huge success in the music business and continues to sell hundreds of thousands of CD's worldwide 2 decades after his first album came out.

He's clearly recognized as one of the Top 10 guitarists of all time for his ability to shred.
Musically, his grasp of theory is astounding and his ability to fully orchestrate classical and original arrangements is impressive.

Yngwie is an amazing guitarist no doubt about that and I love all his old stuff up to Unleash the Fury. But this new one I wish I hadn't bought... even Joe's Strange Beautiful Music (which I dislike a lot) is better that Perpetual Flame.

I just got it & I love it, but that said I am a little disappointed. I was hoping "Ripper"'s singing would be more dynamic, but he just sounds like most of Yngwie's other singers. Those expecting something different from Yngwie will be disappointed, but really in over 20 years he hasn't changed anything in his style so to expect something different just means you haven't been paying attention to him. Good album, but not his best.
