What a surprise!

Not a surprise really that he uses a Les Paul. I wonder if his guitars use EMG Zakk Wylde sets.

Maybe the Zakker's too busy with BLS?

wow, that was a shocker, god knows what happened to Zakk. I am guessing the same as you, that he is busy with BLS. Seeing as they are becoming more and more popular, especially over here.

It will be good to hear Jerry on the record though, but he is damn good anyway. And of course he uses the ole Les Pauls too.

I think he will look and sound pretty good up there with Ozzy.

I don't see that as a good fit. Jerry is a good guitarist, but his soloing is not in the same league as the standard Ozzy guitarist.

Yeah, i agree... maybe he can really rip technically but never showed it thru his songwriting, if not, i dont really see him playing a full album of Ozzy's "classic tunes"...

Not really a shocker. Well...not when I'd heard about it back in late June. Great new bassist too- Chris Wyse is a helluva player and a really nice guy to boot. Check out some of his band's stuff:

Do we really need a box set from Ozzy Osbourne? The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, O.K., fine. Is the public clamouring for Ozzy's box set? I guess I thought he went slowly downhill after Randy died.

Hmmm, I wonder what Jason Newstead's going to do now. Focus on Voivod?

Jason hasn't been in the band since early summer. He had decided to focus on Voivod, and I think it was Rob Zombie's bassist who was brought in for Ozzfest.

I'm incredibly curious to hear what Jerry can do, given the reputation of Ozzy's past guitarists and all. Either he can shred and we've never heard it, or the music's taking a different direction. I hope more of the former, since if there's another tour, I want to hear an asskicking solo on Mr Crowley.

A few weeks ago Zakk was here at the Gibson plant and apparently my friend, that still works there, overheard Zakk arguing over the phone with his wife about his and his crews beer tab. Supposedly over the last 2 or 3 months it gotten over the $80,000 range.
So maybe his drinking has gotten to be to much of a problem.

I've heard rumours that the Osbournes have been fed up with Zakk's drinking for a while now.

It's hard to tell from Jerry's site what this project really is - it doesn't sound like there will be any touring at this stage, and 'classic tunes' sounds like covers. Maybe Ozzy's finally doing his threatened Beatles album. Still it's fun speculating.
