Nine Inch Nails - "With Teeth" is finished

It's been mixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround.

It's more song based than The Fragile.

Features Dave Grohl on drums and Jeordie White on bass.

The new touring line-up (who are currently rehearsing for the soon to come tour) backing up Trent are (so far):

Ralph Dieter - Guitar
Alessandro Cortini - Guitar
Jeordie White - Bass
Jerome Dillon - Drums

Charlie Clouser and Danny Lohner are no longer part of Nine Inch Nails.

I think it might be DVD audio, or SACD, or both, not sure yet. The Downward Spiral Deluxe Edition is offered in both, so I'd assume they'll stick to that method.

And this album is supposedly more raw and aggressive and straightforward, so I don't know how much of his subtle textures there will be. Then again, that's based on things he said a long time ago, since then he's changed the name of the album from "Bleedthrough" because it was taking a different direction, so who knows.

Release date of 5/03/05 is set. Tracklisting and a brief soundclip are now up. Between this and a new Vai release, this is stacking up to be a great music year.

Fantastic. I'm going to pick up the DS DVDA this week, however, I think the Fragile would be a better candidate for 5.1.

Steve needs to do one. I can't believe Sony hasn't gotten him to remix P&W yet. THe 5.1 mix on the Alien Love Secrets is *very* nice.

I've got a copy of the full album on CD and it's a great album!

It's a bit more easily accesible than 'The Fragile'. There's some really good songs on there!

I saw them at the end of March in London and they were awesome.Going to see them again in July in Brixton.

Re: Nine Inch Nails - "With Teeth" is finished

I heard most of the album last night, and even though I liked it (and I know after a few more spins I'll probably love it), I'm puzzled by the final product, so to speak. After all the talk on NIN's website about musical experimentation with analog synths (when the title was "Bleedthrough"), "With Teeth" is generally stripped down with guitar, drum, and keyboard textures that were used on "The Fragile." One of the things I like about NIN is that every album is different, where unlike other bands who plug and play for each record through generally the same equipment, Trent's genius for sound design from the ground up was another dimension along with the actual songwriting and recording. Feeling that way, I was shocked with how many textures from the last album were "repeated" on this one.

It seems like whatever "Bleedthrough" was ended up being scrapped (per order of the record company, perhaps) in favor of something completely different, and it would be a shame if Trent had to scrap something bold or groundbreaking in favor of something obviously, while still good, more sympathetic to the "new" new wave trend in music.

Re: Nine Inch Nails - "With Teeth" is finished

This is the same material as before the name change I'm pretty sure. And those are analog synths on there (as seen in the studio shots), not to mention Dave Grohl on drums on some songs. I'm loving the album. Some songs sound almost happy. And I'd say the album borrows from both The Fragile and The Downward Spiral, but not in a bad way.

Though the beginning of "Only" reminds me of K-Os' "Man I Used To Be".

Also...

There are short video clips hidden on www.nin.com, I've found four, I don't think there are any others...yet.

Has anyone else found these?

And "The Hand That Feeds" steals half a riff from Megadeth's "Peace Sells But Who's Buying?" - from the "If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line" bit.
