Nuno? Satellite Party? What?

Just saw his new (?) band play on...Last Call with Carson -- I have no idea why that was on in my house but hey.
This band does not impress me and I'm starting to wonder why Nuno is in it. Anyone else see this?

I saw them on Letterman last week. I have the CD. There isn't a whole lot of classic Nuno playing. I am going to go see them in concert because I've never seen Nuno live.

What else does he have going on? There are worse things he can do than be in a band with Perry Farrell. For example, he could start a band with that third guy who sang for Van Halen.

They were on Howard last week...i didn't realize Nuno was there!

I'm glad he's got a good gig. It's fine that he doesn't get to flash his chops - everyone's gotta make a living dudes...and the better living he makes now, the more he can flash his chops later.

Could be worse...could be Whitesnake

Re: Nuno? Satellite Party? What?

Anyone that's been following Nuno post-Extreme probably won't be so surprised seeing him in Satellite Party I think.

His current other band is called DramaGods..used to be called Population-1.. Satellite Party's drummer is also DramaGods'. And Pop 1 actually managed to get some Live TV play time in CBS Late Late Show about 2 years ago.

As how he got together with Perry I think the story was they met at some party and Perry's wife recognized him..

He's definitely been doing much less shredding-type playing since he left Extreme. He definitely can still do it though ..I think there were a couple of Extreme reunion shows last year..

Re: Nuno? Satellite Party? What?

I'm a big Nuno fan, but Satellite Party are ****. Seriously. To this day, the best thing he did was Extreme's 3rd album. He got some decent guitar tones on the 4th album as well. Couple of Population 1 songs are OK, and there are bits and pieces of DramaGods stuff which is OK too, but Sat Party? It's just... wrong. I don't blame him for doing it, though, it's good exposure.

Yeah, Gary wasn't exactly perfect for that band. However, I gotta give him credit for writing better lyrics than Hagar and Roth combined, even if the lyrics are not suited to VH. "Van Halen" and "thought provoking lyrics" don't belong in the same paragraph.

Agreed on all points.

Nuno is also doing a side project with Sully from Godsmack and the magician Criss Angel, called "MF2."

Needless to say, Criss Angel should probably stick with scaring bimbos with magic tricks on the Vegas strip. The day jobs of everyone else involved should be kept as well.

Yeah I heard about that. First I saw that the guitar was an N4, but I couldn't believe it was him playing the axe with them. No solos no nothing. It blows.

Hahahaha Criss Angel sucks, you would think he could use his magic to get rid of his lisp.

And his vocabulary of 10 words. Too many "illusions" that involve oxygen deprivation are to blame, I think.

Re: Nuno? Satellite Party? What?

I just read on Steve Perry's (ex Journey frontman for the kids out there) that he's been working with Nuno. The entry is dated March 31.

I think Steve and Nuno have been working together since about 100 years ago. I remember reading about them teaming up in something like 1993, I think. Might have been earlier.

For what it is worth, I have two "Mourning Widows" disc (another Nuno band), and it is not bad, but I would like to see him get a solid project together and stick with it.
