ONE-HOUR PRIVATE LESSON WITH STEVE

Yup, it's for-real. I've never seen this type- thing before....
Mods, I think it's ok to repost the info here please tell me if not ok.......
************************************************** *

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from world-renowned, GRAMMY® Award-winning guitarist, Steve Vai. From his early days with the legendary Frank Zappa to his 1985 appearance in the film Crossroads to his current and longstanding success as a solo artist, Vai has made his mark in music history. Whether you are a guitarist or your loved one is a guitarist, there is no denying the perfection of this experience as a holiday gift. So place your bids now!

Details:

The winner will be subject to a background check and must be approved by charity and artist management before the experience is fulfilled. Charity and artist management reserve the right to refuse fulfillment at their own discretion.
If winner purchases the package for a person under 18 years of age, they must be accompanied by an adult.
Winner may bring a guest.
Photos will be taken and provided to the winner.
Reasonable autograph requests will be fulfilled.
The time and place of fulfillment will be coordinated between the GRAMMY charities representatives, the winner and artist management and will take place on a date mutually agreeable by winner and artist.
The length of the experience cannot be guaranteed, but will most likely be at least one hour.
The winner is solely responsible for transportation to and from the event.
GRAMMY charities and artist management will not be responsible for winner's inability to arrive as directed to the determined concert for fulfillment of this package.
Inappropriate behavior during the fulfillment of the experience may result in the ending of the experience upon disruptive behavior and winning bidder being blocked from future GRAMMY Charity Online Auctions.

Charity auction. So some rich kid who owns guitars most of us can't dream of and can't play worth a damn gets to indulge another fantasy.

And I bet you wouldn't see that kid making a donation to ActionAid.

It took some searching, but I found it. It's an auction on the bay (110196901691) and it's starting price is a grand. No bidders yet so far though. But yea, it'll be someone from the lucky sperm club that wins this auction.

I'm actually thinking about bidding. I hope that doesn't make me the lame rich kid that Jamie was talking about :P~

Can anyone attest to how Steve is in person?

I signed up to bid. If it remains low then I might consider it. My guess is this thing is going to get huge.

Re: ONE-HOUR PRIVATE LESSON WITH STEVE

Well, it's kinda vague. They say at least an hour, but gave the impression that it could be longer. However, the length of it could be ended at anytime due to whatever Steve wants to do. At least that's how I read it.

I disagree Dee. At the moment it is just silly. It will become f'ing ridiculous as the bidding goes on, ending up as absolutely ludicrous. But I guess if people have money they just don't know what to do with ......

Re: ONE-HOUR PRIVATE LESSON WITH STEVE

How good is Steve as a teacher, I wonder? What can any winner expect to learn from an hour or so of these lessons?

"Here's what I did on Yankee Rose"?

On the other hand, if you are a charitable person, it is like a bonus, and no matter what you get out of it, you did give to charity, and that's cool as well.

Re: ONE-HOUR PRIVATE LESSON WITH STEVE

If you wanna learn something useful, buy a Shawn Lane DVD and give $1000 to charity instead of acting like a spoilt, infatuated moron. I'd give lessons to someone for an hour a day for a whole month for $1000. I guarantee they'd learn a lot more useful stuff than an hour with Steve Vai. I know it's not the same, you won't be able to brag, but you'd be a better guitarist.
