Its concept, songwritting, performing and production were revolutionary. Vai´s musicality is uncompassed nowadays.

By far
Steve
Vai's best work - a masterpiece.
PAW is the reason I own this.
For The Love Of God is my favourite piece of recorded music ever and down here in Australia we don't have access to these great performers like you do in the US so I consider myself a lucky man I caught Vai live here sometime in the 90s and experienced it live.

When that day comes, hopefully in a long time.... For The Love Of God will be played at my funeral. It's there in my will.
That's it.

funnily enough, when my uncle died he wanted me to play for the love of god in the church so i did sounded amazing with the reverb in there. its hard enough to get through it as is but even harder when crying and seeing the audience cry too, then when we poped him in the crem fire on exit he wanted come on feel the noise played out. was a cool send off.

Re: PASSION AND WARFARE. WHAT DID IT DO FOR YOU.
P&W actually made me start learning what it was like to really understand complex rhythm, melody, and guitar playing. Totally opened up my mind to what there was behind the "shredding". I made the decision the second I heard the album through once that I'd try to be a better guitar player, both technically and musically.
Then along came Surfing with the Alien and that stole my heart....

Re: PASSION AND WARFARE. WHAT DID IT DO FOR YOU.
I'll never forget the first time i heard PAW as no other album i have ever listened to has changed/blown me away like it did, it changed everything i ever thought about the guitar and what it could do in 1hour, it just left me floored for weeks and blew my mind upon every listen, felt like the first time a guitar was trying to communicate to you via sound- this was the guitarist i was looking for and i was determined to learn every song seeing them as stepping stones to enhance my playing/techniques as the songs are far beyond amazing- to this day i still feel like PAW has been the greatest album for my musicality and the skills i now posses as a guitarist.
To me, this album is second to none, pure music perfection.

So say thanks to steve vai for changing my life as i somtimes think if i hadnt taken up guitar and hadnt dicovered his music i wouldnt have had drive to practice and life may have been more boring. and i wouldnt be working as a guitar teacher.
here is my cover of for the love of god in tribute. not a carbon copy. a celebration in thanks heres what i knocked out today. peace and love and whatever lol
