Paul has got to be the best player on earth hands down. My favourite has and always will be Steve Vai, but after watching that, I can see that when Paul solos he plays the right notes and doesn't stick weird ones in just to sound different. This is what bothers me about Vai, When Vai does improv solos, I find he tries to hard to make it interesting.

Paul is the best guitarist, great technique with real feeling.

Vai prefers weird scales rather than straight laced ones, not saying Paul's scales are straight laced though

My point is that sometimes a solo calls for straight laced and sometimes not, but vai can't seem to stay away from them. Its like Kirk hammet, during the black album apparently they had to hide his wah wah pedal from him to get him to stop using it on every solo.

Still love the Vai, but Love the Paul equally

Paul Gilbert is becoming my fav guitarist.....

Yellow Matter Custard made me look into his stuff more. Then Scarified just blew me away... This is just the icing on the cake. MUST GET MORE GILBERT STUFF.

I keep trying to find his music in Australia, but can't find it anywhere .

The guitar work was awesome, but I have to say, I don't understand why you think his singing was all that great. He was a bit flat and sounded less than enthused (understandable given the material) through that cover. *shrugs*

I thought he sounded 'forced' trying to cover the megadeth tune, too. Wrong speed picking technique - all down strokes. He sounded to me like he was having a hard time keeping up on that segment. The rest was pretty flawless, though. Not trying to pick on him (like so many do here, nowadays) or your choice of guitarists. Paul Gilbert is and has always been a monster player and I don't even have a fraction of his talent or technique. Just adding my 0.02$ worth.
