Thumbs up

Paul Gilbert- Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar

Well, I just picked up Paul Gilbert's new album and I really like it. I actually sat in my car when I got home until I made it through the entire album.
Nice to have an entirely instrumental album from Paul. I have always been impressed by his fret board prowess and it is fun to see him really show it off like he does on this album.

I read a review in Guitarist. It says the album is a serious challenger for "Passion and Warfare"...and that it might replace it in the heart of guitar lovers.

I really need to listen to it.

It's on Youtube, search for it. I dunno about PAW, though. It's a great album, but not PAW great. And PG is currently my favorite guitarist, so YMMV.

Re: Paul Gilbert- Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar

I really think it is his best to date. I was at a different point in my life when I first heard PAW and that really moved me and inspired me, so I am not sure I can say it is in the same league or not. I do have to say that it is the first album in a LONG time that I like every single song the first time I listened to it. It is refreshing and it runs the entire gamut of emotions for me.

Just finished listening to Silence... it's definitely up there with Extremist and Passion! Can't wait to see Gilbert live for the first time next month

Awesome tone, too. I wish I could dial this in on my 100W Vintage Modern head. I can get close to what I hear in "I can not tell a lie", but not 100%.
