PG and JP on the new Guitar 1 cover

I just checked the mail and got the new issue of guitar one.
John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert (with a Destroyer that looks just like my old one) are on the cover along with lessons from each.
Just a heads up.

I know!

I sit and look at it. . .and all I see is a bunch of ads for crap I will NEVER want, with biased fake reviews, the latest talk of the newest crapcore bands, and in general some articles that I find too boring to read about artists that I dont care about.

..... Seems a fair summation of the current state of affairs - I still think good old boring Guitar Player is probably the most well rounded on offer, but I'd rather read New Scientist or Scientific American in any case, possibly due to the complete abscence of ugly kids with too many tattoos flogging black guitars that they of course get for nix...... do Good Charlotte EVER actually do any acoustic stuff, or are Takamine having me on?

I buy all the guitar rags. They always sound great on the cover but inside there's usually very little substance. Still, I need something enjoyable to read on the crapper.

Musicians Friend Catalog.
Sam Ash Catalog
Music 123 Catalog
American Musical Supply Catalog

I find those to be far more entertaining. . for some reason.

Re: PG and JP on the new Guitar 1 cover

I've got two year subscriptions to Guitar World and G1 that are coming to an end soon. I will not be renewing GW, it's the same **** over and over - Zakk Wylde on the cover doing his screaming "I'm a bad-ass biker dude" face and Nirvana tabs. Or articles/tabs of the latest screamo/emo/whatever band that I've never heard of and will be gone in a year. At least G1 is more rounded, but I'm not sure I'll be renewing that either. And yes, I've figured out the gear reviews are biased. They might not give everything a platinum award or whatever but they never rag on anything either. Of course it wasn't too hard to figure out they're biased reviews after they rave about some piece of gear and give it a platinum award, then you flip the page and *surprise* there's a full-page ad for that item. LOL.

Re: PG and JP on the new Guitar 1 cover

I only ever buy em when jps in there. I go thru my dads old collections from 80's, 90's every now and again and always find cool stuff and good tabs, not like sum 41 and 3 chord punk.
