Despite being great players, those guys aren't really modern jazz. What you can do is just go to Pandora.com and start a channel with someone like Mike Stern, and just sit back and listen. Or, if you want to hear music and musicians like Guthrie, start a Guthrie channel. Pandora is pretty good at pulling similar musicians out of the blue for you, it's a great way to try some stuff you haven't heard before. I have it on now

Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Bill Frisell are considered to be the "big three" of current jazz.

Al Dimeola (Return To Forever/Solo) The greatest ever!

Russ Freeman (The Rippingtons) You get a healthy dose of horns as well, but I love this band!!!
