"Hurt" will make several rotations through the speakers of my music store today out of respect for music's first real outlaw.

Just so you guys know, on Cash's latest release, he covers Trent Reznicks "Hurt" , Paul Simon's "Bridge over troubled water", Lennon/McCartney's "In my Life" , and Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" are just a few of the classic songs on his new album.

I feel Johnny knew this was his last album... hecould hear it in his voice.

If you are looking for a dark, moody cd , different from anything else you own..... I would suggest a copy of it.

R.I.P. Johnny Cash, long before any of today's wannabe's were born. Johnny was doing things his way, and he wasn't just posing. He was the real deal.

Never forgotten.

A brilliant Canadian and international legend. The man had some serious demons, and he slayed most of them (many more than once). Through it all, he just kept creating.

His presence will be missed.

(BTW, it's Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails)

Damn.

The world loses a true legend.

I grew up in the '60s and '70s, during Johnny Cash's best years as a musician and songwriter. My cousin Mike, introduced me to Live at Folsom Prison about the same time The Beatles White Album came out. Listening to those 2 albums made me realize that music would be a part of my life, every single day that I'm able to draw breath.

When I was just a baby, my mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy; don't ever play with guns."
But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.
When I hear that whistle blowin' I hang my head and cry

has to be one of the most moving lyrics ever..

Johnny was awesome, he moved me alot and if my father(r.i.p) heard me say that he would **** bricks cause I didnt get it when my dad played him, now I do..

Very sad indeed.

The "Hurt" video re-ignited my interest in Johnny. It's sad for me that he had to go, but I think he was ready.
