Rare Pix of an Old Man...Some May Know Him

Rare pix of one of the most influential guitarists ever to rule the earth.
Rare because you never see him playing a Strat............

I also think this is the 'lost' strat he used to record Ten Years Gone - recently surfaced and made it's way back to him. If so, it's value is tremendous.....

Re: Rare Pix of an Old Man...Some May Know Him

He's one of the only guitarists that rarely if ever sells or gives away any of his gear. The Hard Rock Cafe had to beg, badger, and plead with him to get something. He was saying how he still has all the gear he used when he was in the Yardbirds.
You can bet that while many musicians own tons of gear and guitars, nobody's collection is worth as much as his, because it's all his and all original.

Where were these pics from, anyway?

He lives 5 miles away from me although I'm not sure if he actually lives there - you know all these people have more than one house and only they know which one is their home.

Jon Lord (who was if you ask me the true virtuoso in Deep Purple) also lives there as does spoonbender extraordinaire Uri Geller.

He looks like Royalty.... well, he is I suppose.

Did anyone happen to notice that the Strat he's holding appears to be a 50's neck (Maple, one piece, small headstock, spaghetti decal) on a 65 or so body (old, non-green laminated pickguard) - a bitzer - probably bought it cheap at a garage sale...... ;^)

Re: Rare Pix of an Old Man...Some May Know Him

Couple years ago at an interview for BBC Radio 2 he said he thinks he's got over 1500 guitars because he never got rid of any - he kept them all.
He's going to have a fair few strats in there.

Won't be surprised if the lost Strat was "lost" in a storage space somewhere or something together with who knows how many other guitars.
