Recommend me a Clapton DVD
hey guys, I'm looking to buy an
Eric Clapton
DVD and I know there's quite a few out there. So which one would you recommend...in terms of performance, DVD audio and sound quality?

Clapton is god, I got a few of his videos, cannot remember them off hand so if I remember I will have a look later. He deserves a "we are not worthy" emotion. But I cant find it!

I saw him in Rotterdam last April and it was absolutely fabulous
. The average age of the audience was above 45 but that doesn't matter, everyone stood there eyes-closed when eric was soloing...

I just saw him Friday night in Buffalo with Robert Randolph. It used to be that I didn't think much of him, but the man can really play, and he puts on one of the best rock shows I've ever seen.

Just get anything man, you can't go wrong.....its Clapton.
From the late 60's Cream era, never ending improv jams with Baker and Bruce......to One more Car, One More Rider......its all good.
Its nearly impossible to find footage when Clapton with the guitarist in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.... but the solos and tone on that stuff with blow you away!!
One More Car, One more Rider is the most recent......Parts of this DVD will give you chills.....On the DvD's slower songs, Clapton solo's give you the "hair stand up on your neck" feeling....and Billy Preston's organ work is just awesome....he smokes on a Hammond B3.
I also like "Live in Hyde park" from 1996.
I like "24 Nights" This was a concert put out in 1991 from Claptons performances at a sold out Royal Albert Hall.....which is a awesome venue.
Many of the late 80's concerts that are on vhs/dvd a great too.....as Clapton has Phil Collins on drums alot, which makes for a great replication of the original song.....and good backup vocals.
While not a shredder by todays standards, Clapton was given the name "slowhand" by his peers in the 1960's as sarcastic joke because he could play so fast when he wanted......
I highly recommend anyone to study Eric's work, as he is one of the founding fathers of the
Electric Guitar
revolution.....with his career now in it 5th decade, and think his back catalog has something for everyone.

I thought that the name came from the fact that he took his time when changing strings between songs....

I thought "slowhands" came from his vibrato...
Not really that huge a clapton fan- "From the Cradle" was the last thing he did that really approached a good blues album, IMO, and that was more flash than substance (although, gotta say, his vocals on that one were great- raw as hell). And while I dig his lead playing on the Howlin' Wolf London Sessions, a listen to what Hubert Sumlin was doing on the originals makes you wonder why Clapton even bothered. I like his playing there, and i like his work with Cream, but the bluesbreakers stuff sounds "unfinished" and imitative, and lately he's just been a pop singer who plays a bit of blues guitar.
But if he's one of those guys who, while not overly inspiring in the studio, can still kick it live, I'd be curious to see him in concert. Hell, even if he wasn't I'd be curious to see him- I don't personally think he lives up to his reputation (anymore, at least), but he's still solid...

He rocks live! And it was not like a routine performance some other 'older' bands may do, but you could really see that they were having fun. Especially when Robert Randall
came and joined EC with the band; that was such fun!
Oh, and they had a big video screen and I think the camera-director assumed that there were a lot of guitarplayers in the place because they constantly zoomed in on his fretting hand and such things...very nice.
