Red Hot Chili Peppers "Stadium Arcadium"

I've been playing this album front to back for the better part of two weeks. Anyone else here a fan of the Peppers? I loved "Mother's Milk" and "Bloodsugarsexmagik". I was so excited when I heard Frusciante was back for "Californication", but thought the album was a disappointment. "By the Way" was tighter and better written, but not funky at all. I have to say that I think the new album signals a return to better playing in John's style, and more funk.

I got it about 2 weeks ago along with Tool's new cd. They both have been in heavy rotation!

It's way too long. They could have taken the best songs and made it just one album, even at that though, the best songs aren't that great. The CD gets boring and it has fillers. I like albums that are good all the way through such as Peeping Tom's self titled album which just came out yesterday.

oh and the RHCP ripped Tom Petty's Mary Jane. boooo

I listened to it and it is just to poppy for my taste. Im glad John is back but its just not even close to as good as Bloodsugarsexmagik was, which is my favorite by them.

Re: Red Hot Chili Peppers "Stadium Arcadium"

Honestly, I'm not all that convinced that Bloodsugar was the greatest thing they've done.

Sure it has big hits, "Give It Away", "Breaking the Girl", and "Under the Bridge", but it also has some really poor stuff like "Righteous and the Wicked", "Naked in the Rain" and "Sir Psycho Sexy". Finally, the Robert Johnson cover of "They're Red Hot" is not the best either. What you're left with is a bunch of funk numbers that are all very similar sounding, and the singles.

I like that the new album has a nice mix. Every song doesn't sound the same. There's some slow ballads, some mid-tempo funk, and even a few fast-paced songs like "Torture Me" that sound more like "Mother's Milk" than anything new.

Re: Red Hot Chili Peppers "Stadium Arcadium"

"Stadium Arcadium" is a double album right? I haven't dared to listen to it yet because everyone I spoke to called it a horrible album.
