Richie Kotzen

Hey.

Check out Richie Kotzen's new album, 'Peace Sign'.
I saw him in Poole, Dorset last week and he was a m a z i n g. He has a brilliant voice-right up there with Ray Gillen who I just mentioned in the Jake thread. Awesome player. He has released a ton of albums under his own steam, and the ones i've heard vary from good to brilliant.
Honestly, go and see him live and you'll see what I mean.

Cool! I love Ritchie's playing. Been into him since I bought his first Shrapnel album back in the '80s, awesome guitarist. Ray Gillen is and will remain one of my fave singers. Loved those Badlands albums he did with Jake. Now sadly departed. RIP Ray.

Re: Richie Kotzen

I saw him last night at Glasgow and he was unbelievable. An amazing red signature tele too and he played through a single channel Cornford with no effects - all the clean/heavy sounds came from him adjusting his volume on his guitar.

Bloody amazing

Hey Roland!

I didn't get close to the stage to see what his feet were doing-I thought I might have heard an Octaver pedal or something... did he have/use any pedals?

Glad the Glasgow gig was good too, but I hope he'd cheered up a bit-he was a bit miserable at times, last Sunday.

Cheers

Re: Richie Kotzen

I love his playing & his voice. Very unappreciated. It is sad, talent like this does not get played on regular radio but instead we have to hear bands like Fall Out Boy. I would love to go see him if he decided to play other places besides Europe & California.

Re: Richie Kotzen

If anyone gets a chance to see Kotzen live it would be well worth it. I saw him open up for Paul Gilbert in May of 08. He is an amazing live performer.

Re: Richie Kotzen

I had to miss him in Manchester due to a complete lack of funds.

Grr, this thread is making me regret not robbing someone for the cash.

Re: Richie Kotzen

I never liked his music and solos, and his voice is too annoying to me.
His music has that deep purple feeling which I don't like at all.
Still he's a great player.

Re: Richie Kotzen

I saw Richie back when he was in Poison! AMAZING! Voice and player. To date - I still think that is Poison's best album. Native Tongue...

Re: Richie Kotzen

Richie is a complete package type of player.. better than the average guitar player and better than most vocalist he'd be teamed up with in a band situation.. mad respect to him for doing his own thing.

Re: Richie Kotzen

In my opinion, he's one of the most underrated players, which is quite a shame.

Re: Richie Kotzen

Richie Kotzen is a total class apart. He's one of the few old school guys that can plug into an amp and sound good all on his own, no flashy backing band required. It's all about the music. A DAMN shame he hasn't got wider recognition and that he never seems to play the states, but to tour, you've gotta go where the money is.

I do my best to turn everyone I know on to him, but that doesn't turn into everyone going to his website and buying a few discs.
