Thanks guys,

Yeah this is just going to be allot of fun!! I wanted to make sure that if and when I did it, I did it right!! So we have some road crew to help, hotel reservations made, reliable vehicles for transport, good media coverage in each city for advertisement, high quality posters made for advertisement (100 get sent to each venue 1 month before the show) and have all of our passes and itineraries being made through WWW.BANDPASSES.COM. We have tour shirts with the album art on the front, tour dates and venue names on the back as well as the sponsors, 2 other band t-shirts, 5 albums for sale total, CD singles, buttons, stickers, custom Rikk Beatty Band guitar picks, the UnPlugged DVD.....

I have played lots of shows where I have seen bands on tour and not only do some of them not get paid well but they had not planned out the hotels, money for food, had no merchandise to sell, no lights or not a very good sound system..... Basically I have just tried to think of everything and make sure that the show we give is nothing short of what you would expect from any other band that you pay good money to see.

The show at Little Creek Casino is going to be VERY exciting. They will be advertising on 3 different radio stations, the Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle newspapers, on their huge reader board billboard sign on the freeway, and will be doing giveaways in the casino to help promote. The main stage has cameras at every angle and can be broadcast to the rest of the casino as well as to their hotel rooms as "Pay-Per-View". The casino will furnish the band with security for the door, stage area, and greenroom and has given us a budget to order food and snack trays to have in the greenroom! They REALLY know how to treat their entertainers!!

Belgium

Man!

I totally want to go to Belgium!!! Europe is awesome!! Well, most of it at least. I lived in Germany for 5 years. Interesting climate!! Spain would be very cool too.

Maybe when we do the European tour we will make it to Belgium. Of course that will be after the Japanese tour, unless I can talk Rikk into playing Europe first!!!

Well the shows are booked, sponsors are secured, equipment ordered and ready, flight cases all in line, transpo and hotels set..... just waiting for 04-15-04 now! lol

The tour posters came out AWESOME. I will post a picture of them when I get home. They are 13" x 17.75" printed on high gloss 100 lb paper with water resistant UV coating. No one that has seen these in person has not been impressed. They all say "Ok so who has all the money in the band?" lol If you go to http://www.psprint.com you can get 1,000 of these for $382.50!! Obviously its not something you would want to do for each show but for a tour or for an album release it sure beats the local print shop or Discmaker's price of $590 for $1,000 11" x 17" posters!!

Rikk,

those plans are definately grand and exciting! Are you actually getting sponsorship dollars from your listed sponsors, or are you footing the bill for all of this yourself?

Don't get me wrong here...i only ask because I'd love to know more about how you arranged everything. You've thought of things that I never would have, right down to the last detail...right down to billboard advertising!

Well I can honestly say they would not be very good sponsors if I was not getting money from them! lol BUT awesome as it is that 9/10 of the sponsors gave cash for the tour, it was still a costly venture. When considering advertising, gas, food, lodging, general repair/wear and tear on the instruments, sound system, and lighting system I am definitely in the red on this one (until we start playing shows that is) lol.

Most shows give a guarantee of some sort. Obviosuly the casino is a HUGE guarantee. Others we play for 2/3 the door (as long as we knew they could draw people on a weeknight).

Merchandise is where it is at though. You want to make your money back you gots to have t-shirts, stickers, CD's, buttons, picks.... WHATEVER to sell!! Now that does not mean you sell the shirts for $40.00 a piece like at your normal concert but if you order the right amount from the right places, you will get an EXCELLENT quality shirt with 4 color printing on (front/back) for under $8.00 a piece. We sell our shirts for $12.00 a piece and no one has a problem spending $12.00 on a shirt that is excellent quality with a cool design. BUT I definitely sold guitars to do all this. Jason and I have both made sacrifices for this tour but it will be well worth it.

Touring Japan will be another story. Someone else will be handling all of that for us (for a fee of course). BUT Japan LOVES guitar oriented music and does not care if they have never heard of the band before. THAT will be fun. Gotta brush up on my Japanese. All I know is whats on the Teriyaki menu! lol Oh and a little Mr Miyagi from the Karate Kid. lol

Get ahold of me by email with any questions and I will let you know what I know.

Rikk
