Ron Thal/Bumblefoot at G3!?!

I just read this on the Vigier forum, posted by Patrice Vigier himself. It seems that Satriani bashed Ron Thal a little in an interview with some French magazine and felt the need to rectify his statement after having said Bumblefoot plays without a heart.

Quote:
Après l'interview de Joe Satriani paru dans Guitare Xtreme ou Joe dirait que Ron Thal ne joue pas avec son coeur, voici la réponse de Joe Satriani après qu'il ait lu son interview!!!:
<< Ron,
I'm happy to hear from you, but, not under these circumstances I guess. You don't need me to tell you that you are a brilliant player, and you are. Now let's see if I can clear things up a bit.
It seems this French interviewer asked me about your playing after someone had coincidentally emailed me one of your more outrageous forays in soloing with no backing tracks. Up until then I'd never heard of you. So I thought, well that's an odd approach, what's this guy all about anyway?.
Before I had a chance to investigate your music further the question is put to me one day in Paris as to why I don't play like your stuff!
Well I guess I fell for it that afternoon, doing non-stop interviews, one after the other, getting tired, I think they knew I'd say something stupid.
The thing is, I really don't like it when people play for laughs, or, in a cynical way. It reveals an insecurity about the player that makes me, the listener, feel like turning it off. I don't like the feeling it creates in my heart.
The article's translation makes it seem as though I'm an expert on Ron Thal, but this is misleading and untrue. Definitely some bad paraphrasing going on there. Having heard only one unaccompanied solo at that point would make me the least informed on your work!
I don't care what people say or think about me, but, I do care if this has made you feel bad or slighted in any way. I have since listened to much of your work and can't figure out why it took so long for me to hear about you. I would love to have you up for a jam at a G3 show someday, or, perhaps you might be interested in taking part in a G3 tour.
Let me know your thoughts. Feel free to post this email if you like...

Now there's a clean invitation. I would love to see Ron playing G3
And it shows what a great guy Satch can be

That's great but both Paul Gilbert and Mattias IA Eklundh deserve (ability and composition) to be next to Steve and Joe more than Ron Thal.

G3 with either of those two would be insane.
