Rusty Cooley

So I haven't seen or heard much, but from what I can I've made these observations. He's mindblowingly fast I mean holy cow!!!!! However he doesn't seem to be terribly musical. He only seems to have one speed. Really fast!!!!! That sort of playing is good in small doses but It gets a bit tiresome after a while. Any thoughts?

Re: Rusty Cooley

I actually took lessons from Rusty when he was based out of Atlanta, GA. Surprisingly, in a private lesson setting I was able to see him as a far more complete and muscial guitar player rather than just a "shredder". The lessons with him actually did little for my technique but was very rich in helping me improve with my timing, theory, and overall creativity. I think his band project will reflect more of his creative song writing abilities.

Re: Rusty Cooley

To answer Megadeths question, I live here in Rochester but attend school in Boston at Berklee. You went to RIT right? I really dig his playing he's gotten me to look at my own chops. A teacher goes over the basics and fundamentals with everyone because that's what's really important. Chops are great but timing and creativity will get you everywhere.

rusty is a great guy , and a much more complet player then just speed and shred , i think to a guy like him that is really the only thing that challenges him in any way . he knows his stuff and knows it well . You know he is impressive when micheal angelo batio wonders how he does some of the stuff he does .

Re: Rusty Cooley

well, considering new UV's are what? $1900ish? $2400 for a US made killer 7 string might be worth it...
