Actually Vai AND Petrucci have already taken notice of him. He sat on Petruccis bus when they came to Houston to listen to Train of Thought sans vocals. Though his playing on a whole isnt what I would normally listen to, no one can deny that his technique is amazing. Ive seen VERY few ppl who can pull of the speed that he can. If you like Houston guitarists, go check out Joel Gregoire. Steve Vai has taken notice of HIM too. This guy has it all....speed (though not as fast as Rusty), technique, and most of all, an incredible sense of melody....plus he is a VERY nice guy (As is Rusty). We've done quite a few shows with Joels band STRIDE, and Rusty always comes out when we play...there are LOTS of great guitarists in Houston, hopefully something will happen here

sense of melody???? where the heck is that. Hes a phenom when it comes to playing but what good is it if you cant present it in a pleasant listening experience?

I'm pretty sure Rusty is capable of playing anything he wants but he chooses to play extreme over-the-top guitar (because he can, and, because it's fun). Listen to him jamming out some funk in the jemfest radio interview courtesy of our own Ricky Garcia

I was actually talking about Joel Gregoire and not Rusty when I mentioned that comment. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok ok ok. We all have opinions, for we are guitarist. It is hard to satisfy everyones audible desires and the main reason we play / compose it to make ourselfs happy, not to impress others. Why play to impress others? Play to impress ourself, cause you can never make everyone happy!

Rusty, does what he does and he does it better than anyone else can, because he plays for himself! SO am I a fan? I'm a friend and admirer! Rusty has accomplished extreme goals, mainly he plays for himself!

So everyone, have a HAPPY HOLIDAY AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR! Have a drink on me and play some geetar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love ya all!

Andy

I'm not a big fan of Rusty's music, but I think he's a really nice guy who loves music and lives for playing. He's very helpful when I ask him various questions, too.

Rusty is a great player and I enjoyed seeing him at Jemfest 2002. My band were among the support acts

His UV7BK sounds very different to mine! Lots of notes from his!

First off I would like to thank everyone here who kindly supports me. I do greatly appreciate it. I'm very proud to be endorsing Ibanez guitars! I have found my home! I can also see there are a great deal of people here that don't like me as well and that's all good everyone is entitled to there opinion. (I probably woudn't like there playing either hehe) For those of you who think I'm shallow and can only play fast try checking out the clips to "Jazzmine's Song", "Dark Matter" Or check out the tunes by my band Outworld "City Of The Dead", "Raise Hell" and under rare stuff "Forever And Never" The whole goal behind my instrumental cd was to write the most intense cd that I could. So your not going to get a bunch of singy songy melodies that you can hum and dance to but that doesn't mean that that's all I can do. Anyway I don't even know why I bother explaning myself sorry for the rant.

Peace and happiness to all!

Happy Holiday

Rusty
