Scott Stapp singing "America the Beautiful" in Gam
First of, i nearly cried at that last out last night, it was just so beautiful... Foulke looked like he couldn't believe what was happening- hell, he tried to RUN the ball to first base before he realized he could throw it- it LOOKED like the final out of a world series. eighty-six f'in years.... Goddamn.
Anyway, low point- Scott Stapp's performance on the halftime show. Dear god it was bad (and it's almost a pity GuitarWizard isn't around to stick up for him). I'll be honest, I like the Creed debut, but Stapp got old really fast, and last night's rendition of "America the Beautiful" was just an embarrassment. He sounded like he was struggling to hit some of the notes of what is, after all, a fairly simple melody. His delivery, of course, is subjective, but it really didn't fit, IMO.
The real reason the Sox deserved this one? The Yankees have that Irish Tenor guy they drag out every year. The Cards gave us a couple pop-country singers and Scott Stapp ("founding member of creed, solo recording artist"). The Sox? Game one was Steven Tyler of Aerosmith (who did a suprisingly good rendition of the Star Spangled Banner- man, that guy's got a voice), Game Two was James Taylor. How cool is that? I love Boston.

I know... when they annonuced Stapp coming up, I had to do my best, "With arrroums wideOOoopuhn" impression. That was some weak singing! It sounded like he was constantly drained, sighing in the song, and not even finishing words properly. It was embarassing to watch.

Yeah...too bad about guitarwizard. i heard he died suffocating from his own anal vapors.
Anyway, I liked Scott Stapp better in 1992 when his name was Eddie Vedder.
Congrats on your win from a NYer who could give a rat's ass about baseball and thinks belligerent yankme fans are an embarassment.

Yeah, that Scott Stapp singing was just awful. I was cringing.
I hate James Taylor too.

Kenny, no offence, but I think we wrote the book on belligerent fans up here. Offensive, I'll give you, but...
Eh, I kicked the baseball habit during the first strike- I think I may be hooked all over again. I'm fighting the urge to go out and buy a Sox hat, and I don't even LIKE wearing hats.
I'm not really the James Taylor type, either, but I'll take him over pop/country divas and washed up alt rockers any day...

Yeah, Stapp stunk. Tyler rocked even if he did have a couple minor, minor mistakes on the lyrics. But, the way he sings we may only THINK he was singing the Star-spangled Banner!
