Shadows Fall

Just picked up their latest album and I think its fricken awesome.
The riffs are great, and the solos even better! The only bad thing I would say are the shouty vocals, which I'm not really into, but then again its better than "screamo" crud.

really cool band, anyone else like them?

Yeah dude, Shadows Fall are awesome. Jon Donais is a killer guitarist and hopefully will bring the shred scene back more. I enjoyed their earlier stuff and thought the riffs were remeniscent of Metallica. I am not a fan of the singer either, but I try to look past that and listen in on the riffing and the shredding thats goin on. Jon Donais is awesome though!

Just too throw in my two cents I am not real impressed by these guys. Nothing stands out. It just bores me. So I would like to know what you guys like so much about this band. It's not like they suck because they don't. But I don't get what even makes them stand out.

for me its just some of the melodies, its fricken HARD rockin, then there's these awesome chord sequences and melodies that almost give me a woody they're that good.

and some of the solos are amazing.

The one album I have of theirs, Art of Balance if I remember right, reminds me a bit of Ride the Lightning, only not quite as musical, and the vocals aren't my cup of tea. Well that's what I remember thinking, I haven't listened to it in a long time.

Hey Thanks for the answering my question. I will give them another chance. And the yet to be released The War Within actually is pretty decent. Still not sure if I would listen to it often but not bad. Back when I was in my late teens I am sure I would have loved them but alas tastes do change. Can't say if they get better or not. Some of the solos are kind of cool but these days guitarist really have to be better than me for me to be really interested in them. And I can play all their stuff. On the same note I can't write a part that is simple and powerful if my life depended on it. Anyway cool and thanks for tell what you like about them.

I like them, not a raving foaming at the mouth fan, but I like them.. lol

With all the Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity I've been listening to lately, Shadow's Fall fits right in..
