So i have less respect for Yngwie Now
I used to be an yngwie fan hardcore. I did like most of his stuff and his
guitar playing
is pretty impressive. However, Theres this one case where he coppied a baroque compoer almost
NOTE FOR NOTE
. THe basic DIFFERENCE is that there are trasition notes. ANyway we all love his Icarus' Dream suit op.3. Well if you look up a composer last name Albinoni, you'll notice that his most popular and very beutiful Peice Adagio (min). Well you'll notice that that the
chord progression
is the exact same, and it modulates in the same place. ANyway, I hate when people copy other peoples work without giving credit. THat personally, is way way way worse than getting music off A napster like program.

I don't think he has made it any secret that he 'borrows' from the old composers. I'd also like to say, that many times I think I've come up with something new, and dang if next week on the radio some new or old band isn't playing almost the same riff. Maybe he should make it more specific maybe, but its easy to tell ALOT of his stuff comes from old composers, I listen to alot of classical music.

You describe yourself as a (former) hardcore Yngwie fan, yet you
just
discovered that he's been plundering the classics? Something he's been doing as publically as his niche allows since 1978 at least? No, no, this doesn't seem right at all.
And I assume you mean Icarus Dream Suite
Opus 4
.
In this case it's worth noting that the piece you refer to as Albinoni's Adagio was itself rewritten into its surviving form by Rimo Giazotto hundreds of years after Albinoni's death. Albinoni left only six bars of completed music; Giazotto made up the rest!
Besides, it sounds way cooler on an overdriven Strat.

Yes opus 4..
Well see, i understand taking a theme and modifying it. Like changing hte keys, or expanding it or contracting it (timewise). Like most composers did this. But this is like really close to the actuall thing. Anyway i just hate when people don't give credit to people thats all.

In the Ozzy song Diary of a Madman, Randy Rhodes copied a Leo Brower peice in the beginning. It's not the whole song but it's exactly the same notes and rythmns. Except Randy didn't repeat thesections like the original song does.

The last song I wrote turned out to be Black Blade by Blue Oyster Cult. For a couple of days it was a great song with bad lyrics.
Now I've realized that my part was only the bad lyrics.
It doesn't bother me or surprise me if much of Yngwie's stuff is copied straight off. He should have the decency to credit the real composers though.

i actually *shudder* picked up "war to end all wars" out of morbid curiosity not too long after it came out. (my god are those lyrics bad, lol). I remember he actually credits the lead break in one section of one tune as being lifted from a paganini tune. You think this was to give credit where credit is due? like hell. As his professed "main influence," malmsteen is just doing his part to cement his name to paganini's in the eyes of electric guitarists, and say, "i'm so good, i can play this paganini caprice." the man is a, idunno, will "turd" get through the censorship filter?

and while we're at it, one of clapton's cream-era solos was lifted note-for-note from an albert king disc, so let's not act like yngwie is the only guy who ripped off his predecessors...

Judging from "Liberty" SSV likes Ludwig a bit. It is all inspiration. Granted it is not note for note. Everytime I listen to Satch or Vai I get inspired.

Well, i mean covers aren't exactly bad at all. And i know nobody creates in a vaccume. Like when i play guitar i sound like PEtrucci but don't copy him. I Guess where this all started is that if I had music and sombody copied it without giving credit i would be mad. LIke if yngwie made a little foot note this would all be cool. And this goes for other composers as well.

Yes, I mean, you're right. All that I found odd was A) that you just discovered Yngwie lifts from the classics and B) that you've gone off him because of it.
In my experience, this daylight robbery is simply one of the bitter pills us real Malmsteen fans have to swallow and have learned to do so, like his resemblance to sweaty jumpsuit era Elvis, his destructive fondness for red wine and pasta, his tacky Rolex Submariner, and the sheer Spinal Tapness of him doing things like having an entire suit of armor custom built for his frame.
All this considered,
I really like the way he plays guitar
and writes music. Take Odyssey for example, one of his finest hours (though he doesn't think so) - very little you could accuse of being stolen there, just great solid metal songwriting. I agree that ideally he should've always noted where he was recycling classical themes, but he never has, it's just one of his 'things'. To my mind most of his fans are aware of this, but still like his music just the same.
