Here's a video of Pat Lachman (singer for Damageplan) talking about Dime & all the fallen heroes of that night. Deeply moving.

Sebastian Bach wrote a beautiful tribute to Dime on his website. It's a long post, but every word is worth reading. It's a true testament to how great of a guy Dime was.

Eddie Van Halen making a great speech. Also, Dime was buried with EVH's original black/yellow-striped guitar! A fitting tribute from one god to another.

Zakk Wylde's statement on losing Dime:
"Bottomline: You've got Jimi Hendrix, you've got Eddie Van Halen, you've got Randy Rhoads and you've got
Dimebag Darrell. His influence will be felt forever. And he was the most genuine, kindest guy you ever met. Dime would give you the shirt off his back. The good Lord put him down here to whoop some ass and make everybody happy, and now He needed him, so He took him. I'm sitting in Dime's garage right now - I'm down here to take care of his family, to keep everybody together - and I'm waiting for him to walk through the door. I'm looking at pictures of him on the wall, pictures of us hanging together, and it just crushes me inside. I've never had a brother, but he was as close to blood as possible. My love for him is unconditional and beyond forever" - Zakk Wylde

On a personal note:
I know it's been almost a month since this senseless tragedy has happened. However, it seems to be hitting me harder now than when it happened initially.
In the last few months, it's a been a ritual for me to go this local bar on Wednesdays & Thursdays with the End Theory (my band) crew to catch our friend's play. It has been a well-known fact that Dime was huge influence on my guitar playing. The very night Dime was killed, most of the End Theory crew were called to the stage to perform "Walk" with our friends. It seemed that only the "musicians" at the club knew what had happened. Before we started the song, I made a brief speech in the mic & then it was my turn to start that famous riff we all know and love. At first, I was so overcome that I could barely get through the song. By the time I got to the outro of the song, I just ripped out a furious solo for him. Dime's attitude on life was to do everything FULL F*CKING THROTTLE...and that's how I played that solo!
By the following night, everyone had heard of Dime's passing. Before we hit the stage to playing "Walk" again, everyone in the bar through back a drink for Dime. Since his passing, getting onstage to play a Pantera tune has become a Thursday night ritual. For 5 minutes, everyone puts their day-to-day sh*t aside & rocks the f*ck out!
So, we celebrated a New Year a couple of night's back at our local watering hole. Shortly after the new year rang in, all of us toasted Dime. When I got home, we all popped the caps off some cold brews & cranked up the first song of the year..."A New Level" by Pantera. What a way to start off 2005.
Dime...you are gone, but will never be forgotten. Here's to ya, man.
