I'm 17, my friends love it, and we DO NOT think of it as a parody/tribute. Looking at the comments on youtube etc, most people don't. Steel Panther said in an interview that they made the album a "comedy" to get into the mainstream/media's eye (when was the last time you heared a brand-new hair metal band on the radio), return rock and metal to it's former glory, to reintroduce the genre to new generations... all that tubular stuff. It seems to be working.

DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL!

Well, it clearly IS comedic, just based on the lyrics - so friggin' funny! But yeah, they've definitely leveraged themselves into the mainstream, so it's working! So many people talking about them now. Hope they don't wait too long for the next CD, but they've got a really tough act to follow with this one!

Ofcorse it's comedic, but, if people didn't like the music, they wouldn't listen/buy the music just because the lyrics contain some sex jokes... that was their stategy anyway, and it working like a charm. The downside to this is the restricted radio play due the cursing etc, but, it's STILL selling by the bucket load. God knows how well their music would be selling if it was being played with as much quantity as Nickelback (I get a sick feeling in my throat just by mentioning that band...)!

Average wait for bands in the 80s between albums was about 2 years or so. Can't wait!
