well,

im setting humming the tune from one of your songs right now allthough i can't place it i wanna say sex and religion era
oh well

you have influenced all of us here in one way or another
at the very least you have expanded our ears and what we think of as possible on our favorite little 6 stringed fretted instrument, with your sometimes beautiful, many times strange, and always interesting musical voice

keep inspiring us (you will find there is little work to that for one such as yourself)
ill buy your new cd just as soon and you and that shady looking new drummer of yours get it finished

and guest spots
come on
you gotta let joe guest spot somehow someway you just gotta this is the excuse for which the two of you have been waiting for years

one thing i hope you don't do is let that be your last post
the first thing i thought when i saw the post was
this can't be for real
come on this is steve vai
he's no mere mortal like one such myself he is one of those gods
but it was you
and i think i speak for everyone here when i say
we are deeply honored and touched that you the time to post on this here little message board

welp ive asserted my stupidity enough for the time being

I don't think you've seen the torched JEM, or you'd decline that comment. It's really cool looking. I mean, Steve himself torched a UV without a second thought. They're not meant to be worshiped, they're meant to be played and bruised a bit.

Steve burned his UV (and then used it in the FTLOG video)...

I don't agree with you at all. Earthman is a cool guy who makes great music. I think his burned JEM came out real nice.

hey there.

I believe you're referring to me. ;-)

I presume "**** of" was a negative comment, indicating that you don't appreciate my customisation methods. well, that's entirely up to you, though I wonder why.

do you think I did it as a slur to ibanez, the jem or steve vai? that would be very wrong indeed. I love ibanez guitars - I have 6, 3 of which are jems, and I love steve's music, as I said in the post you referred to.

do you think I did it to show off, as in "look - I've got so many guitars I can even afford to burn one!" ? wrong again. I worked hard to earn the money for all of my guitars (especially the LNG). the BBQ jem was of course a DY originally, and it was being sold by a friend who needed the money. I got it pretty cheap, and originally I was going to get it chromed. I wanted to customise it and make it look cool, as DYs are possibly the commonest jem around.

I was looking through steve's guitar gallery and saw his burnt UV and so myself, simon (cerealk) and james (7 dying trees) came up with the idea of burning my 777DY to make it look cool.

it's not like I even destroyed a jem - it's been reassembled, set up and now works perfectly. I played it at jemfest uk 2002, in fact.

I don't think guitars should be worshipped and never played - I hear about these guys who save up and get a JEM10 or a DNA and then are too scared to play it... why? what's the point? why not just buy a picture of one?

anyway... I think I'm rambling now.

thanks to mange, cerealk and two hands for the comments, ;-)

cheers,
--c.
