WHY ? because we are fans, and fanatics and sometimes we are not courteous enough or simply overwhelming on our fanatism/Enthusiasm...

I remember when by chance I met Geddy Lee, and had a little "weird chat", buts basically at the end of it I complained about how secluded the Band is and he told me

"when you have 100 strangers every night that want to touch you, ask you things, take a gazzilion photos, have like 10 signatures (even in private parts", and just can let you go to piss, you would understand, have you ever listened to Limelight?"

I guess Mr. Vai lurks here but with no one knowing he reads unadulterated info and unadulterated comments, if "HIMSELF" answered ONE single post everyone would be asking and drooling the whole thread.... ( I would be one of those since the guy is cool as hell....!)

good to know MR. Vai KNOWS about this place..sure he drops in from time to time...
You really think so...come on!? He has been here twice, 2 or 3 times in 11-'02 & once in 2003. He is a very busy musician let alone husband and father. He doesn't come here dude! PLEASE!

Re: Steve himself

I wish people would get over this - JEMsite is about JEM and Universe guitars, because they are great instruments in their own right, not because they are the signature model of one Mr Steve Vai. If the site was about Steve Vai, it would be called VAIsite.

I don't know much about the origins of this website, but I would imagine that Steve was not in any way involved in the inception of the site, had no input, was most not likely consulted for his blessing nor for authorisation (I could be wrong on all counts here BTW), I mean, why should he be involved, the site is about JEM guitars, not him, the fact that he signed on once and left a note expressing his appreciation for the site was great, fantastic even.

He didn't need to, he doesn't need to follow up, he doesn't need to contribute, and for that matter he doesn't need to care about this site, it's not affiliated in any way with the man himself. Get off his case!

It's the same with Threads that proclaim in bold capitals exactly why Ibanez should do what people on this website want them to do. Why should they? JEMsite isn't affiliated with Ibanez, I doubt whether Ibanez officially endorse or condone the site in any way (although they don't seem to object to it either), why should they pay any attention? I don't go with this "Because we're their customers" bit, they have their own site for that.

Steve called in once - that was great, leave it at that!

Re: Steve himself

Oh I was not aware that Steve makes no money from the sales of Jems? Your right what does he give a crap about the people who make him a millionare buying his guitars and albums.

Re: Steve himself

He has his own website dude, that's what it's for.

It's great that he even visited this site once, but some people seem to take it as an offense that the man himself isn't here chatting away and answering every question on the minutae of a guitar which, to him is basically a tool that gets his job done.

Vai is an incredibly productive, prolific AND busy man, who writes, records and performs music in several genres, has a wife and family, keeps bees and actively contributes to charities. I for one would far rather he keeps on doing that and being happy about it than spending time on this forum personally explaining why the squiggle after his signature on LNG 542 is different to the one on 365.

He's not public property, he's a private individual who has the right to chose and decide what is productive with his time, that it seems not to include being active in these forums is of absolutely no consequence at all.
