Steve Morse

Anyone recommend some albums for me to go buy to get into Steve Morses playing? I heard a few songs at school and I was amazed!

Cheers
Joe

Re: Steve Morse

Southern Steel all the way. Some of his best playing and writting on that album. My absolute fav of all morsey's work, including his stuff with the dregs.

Re: Steve Morse

I like the Dregs stuff, personally, and "The Introduction". That's a killer album. Check out 'Unsung Heroes', 'Dregs of The Earth', 'What If', and 'Industry Standard'. Major Impacts 1 and 2 are both also excellent albums.

Re: Steve Morse

All of um! I saw him with Deep Purple last summer and I was just left speechless. Amazing...sorry, but Mr. Blackmore is outclassed here!

Re: Steve Morse

How indicative is "Structural Damage" of Steve's composition and playing abilities? I bought it for an extortionate price in London and was entirely underwhelmed. Repeated listenings have done zilch for me. I have heard a track of Steve playing on the Deep Purple tour and was more impressed admittedly.

Re: Steve Morse

Haven't heard structural damage. Get a used copy of "the Introduction" if you want to hear him play, get "Industry Standard" by the Dregs if you want to hear him write. there's also a nice classical duet with Steve Howe on IS. Steve is a top line player, one of the very best playing today.

Re: Steve Morse

I second Southern Steel and also. High Tension Wires is another one you could start with.
