Steve Vai...Naked?

Yeah its a really great idea. If anyone can make good backing tracks it would be the ones that have the original recordings in seperate tracks...

Id like to get my hands on one for some fun improv soloing.

Idk...there are plenty of sites that offer quality mp3 backing tracks for free. Granted this is probably better but still.

Guitarbt had to take off all Vai backings from their site because of Vai releasing his 'Naked' tracks..

I have downloaded some of those naked tracks from iTunes and as they originate from the original master tapes with the lead cut out, they are vastly superior to any other backing tracks I have found on the web. It's alot of fun playing along with those tracks for one, and second it is also actually pretty interesting hearing all the stuff that really goes on behind Steve's lead playing ! Give it a try, at 99 cents a song on iTunes you can't really go wrong to try it out on your favorite track

I keep griping over there at Vai.com that they should do other instrument versions, like Dave Weckl did with one of his CDs. Versions without drums, another without bass. Maybe even one without rhythm guitars.

Well I suppose most people listening to Vai are guitarists who like to play the lead lines and melodies and he probably didn't know how popular they would be?

I think it's VERY cool that Steve decided to make these available. Much better than the alternate backers. You can't beat the real deal.

Nakes vamps was already available ten years ago. But it's nice to download tracks you want.
