Steve Vai playing in a Nokia commercial?

so there i was, watching TV, and this Nokia commercial comes on. well, i certainly didn't *see* Vai in it, but i very much think i heard him. if it wasn't him, then it was definitely someone else copping his style.

anyone seen this, or know anything about it?

(well, i *think* it was a Nokia commercial... it could have been a different cell phone company)

It's definitely Nokia, but is it definitely Vai? It just sounds to me like the producer just wanted a "Wind Cries Mary" kind of clean chord/melody thing. It does have hints of Vai-isms, but there are probably dozens of top studio players around the world that could do the same thing.

my friends band is featured in the new coke add . it's a Aussie one, so i don't think anyone apart from people in Australia will see it.

Oh yeah I remember that commercial. That was the first time I ever heard Satch. That song was like nothing I had ever heard -- I was hooked just like that. Fortunately they flashed the credit on the screen. I was off to the music store right after that for The Extremist and Surfin'. And the rest is history ...

Same here... never heard of him until that. I was hooked right away : )

i thought that commercial sucked, and the song! it took me a few years to get into instrumental stuff. the first chip at the wall was The Venture's Walk Don't Run. this was May of 1999. then i went out and picked up G3, and didn't much care for it. however, i picked it up again about a month later, and FINALLY, i was hooked
