Steve Vai: recommendation
hello,
I have never heard anything from him...
I dont have much time unfortunately to go through all his cds.
could you please give me some advice on what to listen from him?
I really like satriani: the melodies, the solos etcetc
I dont really know what to expect from S.Vai.
(I don't know why I have the idea of a guy who's showing his skills more than emotions when playing the guitar...)
thanks
A.

nah I say get the Infinite
Steve Vai
, it's like the best of and there are many songs. PAW and Fire Garden are great but I definitly suggest the Inf Steve Vai to get a good dose of different albums.

I have to go with PaW as well. It should be issued with your first guitar.

Re: Steve Vai: recommendation
I don't think I could name a bad Vai song.
Personally, I'd start with Alive in an Ultra world, then Real Illusions. But I'm wierd.. P&W doesn't really give you his current sound at all, and personally (and this is just my opinion) his newer stuff is vastly superior.
Just my 2 cents...

Nah, Vai's definitely one of the better speed guitarists in terms of actually writing and recording good music. He's pretty experimental.
I recommend you get "The Infinite Steve Vai: An Anthology". If you like what you hear, get more of his stuff from there.
