Steve Vai - "Yai Yai"

Anyone else heard this one yet? It's on the CD that came with the latest Guitar World (Feb. 2005), and says it'll be on the upcoming CD "Real Illusions: Reflections". It's...odd. But kinda cool. I dunno, I think I'd like it better without the crazy fake-talk-box effect, but without it, it wouldn't be called "Yai Yai" It's growing on me though.

I didn't care for it, as it sounded kind of "gimmicky" to me. But i only listened to it once, and that was while i was at work, so i'll just wait for the album and see how i feel about it in the context of the rest of the songs.

Hmm, I haven't heard it cos we're usually about a month behind with Guitar World here, but I haven't read any positive reviews of the song at all so far...

Nope. I don't have it as a link, or as an mp3. I have it on the CD that came with Guitar World magazine. The song will be on Vai's next album.

I am aware of that. (I am definitely buying the CD when it comes out February). But I wanted to hear a preview

Man, if you got to hear it why don't you share? I'm not asking for the ENTIRE cd, just the preview that Steve agreed to let everyone hear.

It's a full song, and Steve agreed to let everyone who paid for the magazine to hear it.

Besides, it's against forum rules, and I like it here and plan to stay a while

Well, having heard that little 30 second clip in the other thread, it seems to me that this song is probably designed to occupy a similar space to "State Of Grace" in terms of the flow of the album.

Behind the effect(s) it really does have a nice melody to it.

That's just judging from the sample and not the entire song.
