Went to the show last night with my brother.
Devin Townsend's band opened up.
He's an interesting guy, very cynical and pissed off, yet satirical about everything. He ended the show with "F*** you all, GOODNIGHT !"

X took the stage after 15 minutes of setup and mic check.
Stunning performance as always. The crowd was somewhat sedate from Townsend's droning songs, but once X took the stage that was all past and gone.

They opened with the 1st two songs from Odessey (Inferno and Wicked)
and just continued on from there. Russ hit every note dead on, including the high ones without much effort, as he tends to stay true to the song as it was recorded. The rest of the band played flawlessly, with Mike's Romeo and Pinella trading solos as fast as they've ever played them.

Later into the show they kicked into OF Sins and Shadows and played it probably twice as fast as it is on the album, and that is an already fast song. The solos were fast furious and feverish. Just a great night overall.

The show closer was an Encore of "Odessey", the 24+ minute epic, just phenomenal !

If you're an X fan and they are coming to your town, don't hesitate, tix are only 15 bux and WELL, WELL, worth the price of admission.

Cool BammBamm!!!!!!

I was thinking about going to the Dec 7 show in Detroit, and this review pretty much put me over the edge!!

I'm a "newer" Symphony X listener, and I must say that the band struck a chord inside me and I think they're just EXCELLENT!

I can't get enough of their music. Great musicianship, great songs...and plenty of RIPPAGE!!

RobY, I totally suggest going, I was dead center of the theater and had a great mix of everyone and they just played amazingly well.
I can't overstate that enough. The 1st time I saw them was only a year ago and I swore someone had the CD on ( showed up late) they were playing the dual keys and guitar solos so dead on, I couldn't discern at 1st weather or not they were actually playing.

Just go, you won't be sorry.
If my buddy in Detroit was not overseas currently, I'd be going on the 7th to see X again.

Post a review !
