white lion's "when the childreb cry" may not be the best ever..but its close. just love that sweet sound that it has. its like one of those once in a lifetime moments that they captured when they recorded that guy's guitar. awesome solo.

Here's a few blues based solos from the past that I've brought out of mothballs. Do not listen to these if you're in a "shiny, happy feeling" kind of mood.

Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler - Brothers In Arms - The first time I heard this one, I had my headphones on, and my wife walked into the room. She thought something was terribly upsetting me because I was sitting in the chair with tears in my eyes.

GNR / Slash - November Rain - Slash pours his guts out on this one. It's definitely my favorite GNR tune of all time.

Jeff Beck - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat - From the "Wired" album - This is probably my favorite JB solo. Another gut wrencher here - tons of soul and heart poured into this one.

Solo...

Fave Vai solo: My little Man. Zakk may have recorded it, but Steve wrote it and it's pure Vai. Also Tender Surrender.

Bark at the Moon wails. Unfortunately Jake is way underrated.

Mr Crowley - Randy... No one can touch him.

Here's one no one seems to have noticed: Lita Ford, Back to the Cave. It's killer.

Hendrix's version of All along the Watchtower.

That's my $0.02!

Resurrection by Brian May... off his first solo album (That I know of) after Queen ended.
Victor (Alex Lifeson's other than Rush band) put out an album a few years back.... weird stuff, but it's got some good stuff on it worth listening to.

Steve Vai - I would Love to
Track 15 (Final Guitar Solo) from Steve Vai's Elusive Light, etc....
Who can forget Steve Vai's "Juice?" Dear God.
Extreme - Play With Me (Nuno)
Beginning of "Women in Love" by Van Halen

Damnit, I can't narrow my favorites down.

I remember another one!

Guns n'Roses - Double Talkin' Jive

I just love that song, it's incredible how Slash goes from the first 3 frets 'till the 19th and everything in between, creating one of his best solos IMO

The one he did with Michael Jackson on Give in to Me is also kickass!!

There are many way good solo's nowadays! Some are not published and well, there might be even some of you guys that might have created a solo that might even be able to stand beside some of the greatest solos in the world! Meaby you might think that its crap but hey, others think that its some god who played it. haha..

anyway here's a few great solos that inspired me :
Brian May - Bohemian Rhapsody, crazy little thing called love, killer queen.
Jimmy page - stairway to heaven, since i've been loving you.
Steve vai - whispering a prayer, for the love of god,
Slash - november rain.
ritchie blackmore - smoke on the water
and many more!

Forgot about that one! That's certainly a classic. When I saw Extreme live, he played most of that with one hand, while yawning and covering his mouth with the other. What a ham! But he's awesome...
