The Black Parade

My drummer just lent me the latest My Chemical Romance album and I was pretty sure I was going to hate it.

I've given it a few listens and it turns out that I realy like it. I'm not feeling like rushing out and buying a load of black clothes, cutting myself or wearing make-up but I was pleasantly suprised by the album. I thought it was gonna be a load of emo/screamo, 3 chord crap but it's actualy a well crafted, theatrical kinda album.

I'm so suprised I liked it I thought I'd find out if anybody else on here liked it too. ????

When Rob tried to pass it to me saying "give this a listen mate" I was like "No thank's man, it's defo not my cuppa tea", "I'm not into that kinda sh*te! ". I suppose I was being a bit unfair considering I don't know much about the band, certainly not enough to form any propper opinions about, but there you go.

I'm gonna go out and buy a copy of the album even though I'm sure that the next time the guys come round for a beer they'll spot it in the rack and give me tons of sh*t about it, but hey...that's what having a wide range of musical tastes is all about..........

.....There's even a coup[le of Beastie Boys albums in there

Ben

Beastie Boys rock!

Haven't really dug My Chemical Romance, but I have been pretty impressed by Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars.

Re: The Black Parade

Umm, no thanks ...I've tried (considering that is what EVERYONE around me listens to) and I just cannot like it. They sound like any other modern pop punk band. Whiny vocals, boring guitar riffs, lack of true melody, etc, etc...

I listen to lots of music too, country, classic rock, classical, 90's alternative (STP, Alice in Chains, Bush, etc), jazz, cubanisimo, etc, etc

My Chemical Romance does nothing for me though...

The singer sounds like an emo being molested, I'd like to see them record anything decent without their high priced producers audio engineers and outside writers.

Re: The Black Parade

It's funny, I can listen to Death metal and Black metal all day long, but the emo stuff just bores me.
Appearently, if the lyrics aren't about gore or Satan, I just can't handle all the screaming.
My wife makes me listen to My Chemical Romance and Bullet for My Valentine.
I guess it's only fair though.
I make her listen to Enslaved and Children of Bodom.

Carefull with MCR. I somehow ended up with that album when it first came out and I ended up colmplete makeup, black clothes, and the whole thing for a month or two before I came back to my senses. The MCR might lead to AFI.

Except AFI was a f*cking great band prior to MTV. One of my all time faves.

Re: The Black Parade

mcr is ok , i like the song i'm not ok i promise .

i really dig 30 seconds to mars , thought about picking up thier cd .

as for afi , the lead singer watched aeon flux way too many times because i know he ripped his hair off of charlise therin (i know i didn't spell that anything close to right)

mcr is ok , they actaully have solos and stuff , not the most talented dudes but ok , i still get the eye liner thing or emo as a whole

this is a little long but i found it funny as hell

Re: The Black Parade

Eggy, eggy ,eggy you should know better

theres great songs on an awful lot of albums that I would never buy... once....
recently I bought Pink's - Im not dead album and its a scorcher - angry rock chick !!! sweet.
Im the most guilty one here in my early days, if it wasnt 80's hair metal or metallica(ish) stuff - then it was automatically classed as sh1t - Ive had a rethink over the years though...

I know, AFI were a great punk band, until they decided to jump on the Emo train. They just really suck now.

I haven't heard MCR enough to say anything. But I really like Modern Talking, still to this day. I like the Flashdance soundtrack, and I have covered a NKOTB tune... It's ok to have a mind of your own!

I listened to Black Sails until the cd was worn out. One of the best punk albums ever, IMHO
