The Great Kat
The Great Kat was born Katherine Thomas in Swindon, England (on a U.S. Air Force Base Military Hospital) and moved to the U.S at the age of 3. After listening to Beethoven since birth, The Great Kat realized that her mission was to become a composer and musical revolutionary. Kat began Classical piano studies at 7. At the age of 9, she began Classical violin studies in New York.
At the age of 15, The Great Kat was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City as a scholarship student on violin. The Great Kat graduated from The Juilliard School and began performing, first as a Classical violin soloist at Carnegie Recital Hall as winner of the exclusive Artists International Competition and then extensively in Mexico, the U.S. and Europe.
After touring the world, The Great Kat realized that Classical music was dead, so she began updating Classical Music with Speed Metal and transcribed intricate violin solos to the guitar. Kat developed a new genre of music: “SHRED/CLASSICAL” Music -- Fast, Furious, and Virtuosic.
The Great Kat is the only musician taking note-for-note authentic Classical Music scores (from Vivaldi, Beethoven, Bach, Wagner, Liszt, Paganini and Rossini) and entering the original Classical Music scores into music-notation software. The Great Kat then edits, arranges, and orchestrates the entire scores with Shred Guitar virtuosity and mixing it with Speed Metal band and Classical orchestra. The Great Kat’s music is known worldwide for its phenomenal speeds, complicated Classical motives, counterpoint layering, guitar riffs, maniacal screams, heavy rhythms and thrashing sounds. Known as the “High Priestess of Guitar Shred,” The Great Kat was recently awarded the “Top 10 Fastest Shredders of all Time,” by Guitar One Magazine.

Re: The Great Kat
I find her funny. Yes, she's an awesome technician. But she fails to realize that shred guitar isn't much less dead than classical violin these days. If she had caught on big when she first started this stuff she might have had a few years of big success. Now, nobody cares.
Could you imagine the offspring between her & Gene Simmons?

Re: The Great Kat
What i hate most about this woman is the fact she beleives she invented Neo classical shred ...
'Kat developed a new genre of music: “SHRED/CLASSICAL” Music -- Fast, Furious, and Virtuosic.'
I'm sorry love, we all know who did that and it ain't

Re: The Great Kat
She is a top muscian i give her that, but her guitar tone sucks badly!!! i hate it! there is No passion in her playing or sound, its just to shrilly in her tone on guitar,
so dose her additude suck to anybody in general, this women has some issues with her ego! & i think if she potrays her self as some psyco evil guitar player that dose classical music & dress's like a hooker on a street corner drench in blood, then she is not helping her self or her fan base much, it seem's like she is starving for atention to resort too going about it in the way she is presenting her self, & tell me if i'm wong here- in any picture of her you see she has her mouth wide open with a gory look of blood & stuff - Why? she would get more respect if she would just be normal & focuss on her guitar playing! insted of trying to castarate men in her photo shoots, i hear she hate's men badly! must of been a victim of abuse by the look of her
she needs to seek professional help soon & get off the Crystalmeth- lol!

Re: The Great Kat
All those clips sound sped up, which could explain the weak stringy guitar tone.
Anybody got a sound editing device that could slow that down and see if she is?
