THE TRACKS THAT TAKE YOU BACK!!
okay this is a thread for the tracks that take you back somewhere, everythime you hear them! to your youth, to a place, to a time, to a person any music, any style. you hear them and you can taste the old times! lets keep it up beat.
okay hers my first:
danger danger: crazy nights getting on the bus and making my journey into town to see my mate jeff in nostalga and comic ironically! hes the guy that got me into this mess, the whole guitar trip, i told him i always wanted to play so he said "borrow one of mine" so i did then later on he changed that one for a slightly better one, then he changed it again for a better one a lovely electric blue strat squire and i can still smell the case. top bloke who i owe big time, he used to lend me all sorts and expect nothing in return, he lent me danger danger and loads of others, this was a few years after hair metal had peaked so i was not living it then but just a bit after.
" get a hair cut boy and grow up! cause it aint gonna change, nothing really does, cause we look so cool in our torn blue jeans, holes in our pockets where our money used to be! no it dont come cheap, crusin down the boulevard, looking for the queeen of hearts, looking for some action, oh oh oh ohhhh a! just another crazy night....."
the long hot summer of 91? "my gypsy road wont take me home, i keep on pushing..." cinderella

Songs like "Smile like you mean it" by The Killers remind me of college which is cool.
"Castles in the Sand" by Thunder reminds me of driving to Blackpool for a football tournament when i was about 11.

Re: THE TRACKS THAT TAKE YOU BACK!!
"come sail away" by Styxx UGH! That was my sister's song with her first "love" Eddie! hehehehe She used to play it constantly!
"Mr. Roboto" by Rush That was my brother's favorite song
I was a HUGE Led Zep fan back in the day so anything from them reminds me of my formidable years.
Pink Floyd
reminds me of ahem, "hanging out" with my friends.
KISS Alive and Kiss Alive 2 and any of the early VH albums remind me of when me and my best friend used to hang out for the 10 or so minutes in the morning before school when we were at her house before we left to go to that God awful place of "learning".
Julio Iglesias reminds me of my Aunt Marta and my grandmother. I can still see them singing at the tops of their lungs to those records in my mind's eye.
Madonna reminds me of all the girls I used to hate in school. hehe
I'm sure there's lots more but it's just too early in the morning for me to remember and I haven't had my coffee yet.
Oh yes, Iron Butterfly, it was the first cassette that I ever owned. My step dad gave it to me when I was 3. That was fun.
ZZ Top "tv dinners" This is one of the worst songs you will ever ever ever get stuck in your head! I guarantee it!

Actually, in Florida schools they don't really teach you anything at all so you don't even get the brain washing! Cheap bast@rds!
That book, "everything I know I learned in Kindergarten" had to be written by a Floridian.

Wasn't 'Mr. Roboto' a Styx tune?
Let's see......Hmmmmm.....guess I'm getting old when I think about songs from my youth. I'll bet most here have never heard most of these songs - but there was only AM radio and these songs were truly the soundtrack to our lives back then....
Stones - Angie
Glenn Campbell - Witchita Lineman
Peter Paul & Mary - 500 Miles
Tommy James & the Shondells - Crimson & Clover
1910 Fruitgum Company - 1,2,3, Red Light
The American Breed - Bend Me Shape Me
Otis Redding - Dock Of The Bay
Supremes - Keep Me Hanging On
Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - Young Girl
5th Dimension - Age Of Aquarius
Zager & Evans - In The Year 2525
Tommy Roe - Dizzy

Damn! You're right! lol I told you, it's early and I haven't had my coffee yet. But my brother was a huge Rush fan, didn't they have a song about robots or something too? Cono, my mind is such a worthless piece of nothing! It never works when I want it to! You see children, this is why you should stay off drugs, they catch up to you when you're older! hehehehehehhe
I think it was Tom Sawyer that I was thinking about although he really liked Mr. Roboto as well. Tom Sawyer is actually a cool song, but most of the stuff my brother listened to was awful. hehe

Nice list. I know alot of those songs as well. I actually had a pet tarantula that I named Angie after that Stones song.
Oh man I LOVE Otis! His singing gives me chills! I never in my life have heard anyone else that can convey so much emotion with their voice as him. The guy was amazing! God rest his soul. sniff

Re: THE TRACKS THAT TAKE YOU BACK!!
Almost all music I listen to takes me back somewhere, especially music I haven't heard in ages. The longer it's been since I've heard it, the more vivid the memories. I heard "Promises In The Dark" by Pat Benatar the other day and was instantly transported back to high school (Class of '83.). Old 70s radio stuff does that for me all the time. Takes me back to when I was a kid.

Re: THE TRACKS THAT TAKE YOU BACK!!
Wow, great thread idea. OK, here goes...
The album Holy Diver from Dio takes me back to a particular summer when I was about 16 working for my father in the woods. Listened to it A LOT. Not really a huge fan or anything, just listened to it a lot that summer and it takes me right back there, the sounds, the smells, everything.
A few summers later when I was about 19, I worked with a buddy and he drove and ALL he listened to was the Guess Who. I really do like that album, the one with New Mother Nature, American Woman, it may have been a greatest hits or something, but I remember it like it was a meal ago.
"Sandstorm" by DaRude (OK techno haters, relax) takes me right back to the Tokyo club scene, the most amazing times of my life. Sweet Jesus.
