Talking

This cracked me up

I was looking through the new guitar world and came across a mudvayne add where the guitarist was holding the sz series. He says "I have been with ibanez since the start" or something like that. I found this entertaining because on mudvayne's first album AND in their music video for "dig" he was playing a Les Paul. I have also seen countless gear reviews for him where he says his main guitar is a les paul. Can Hoshino please bend down so he can kiss there @$$ a little more?

I guess they're not counting on the people reading the ads to notice. I mean come on, if you're willing to buy a guitar because the guy in mudvayne plays it, you're probably not a MENSA member.

Maybe his first guitar was an Ibanez.

Re: This cracked me up

I saw this same guitar advert a little while ago. It suprised me too as I didnt think he played Ibanez at all. But their latest video shows him sporting an SZ series. As much as I dont like Mudvayne personally, its good to see more and more bands using them. More publicity is always good! The SZ series seems to be popular with alot of artists e.g. Friedman, Bachand....

Since discovering Ibanez (all those years ago...) he thinks ALL guitars are "LES" than his current.

Re: This cracked me up

Yep, I've always only seen him playing either a Gothic Les Paul, or a Gothic Flying V. Javashred could be correct, though.

My favorite BS ads are the Paul Stanley Silvertone ones, where he says "I can play any guitar I want. I choose Silvertone." YEAH. I'd ditch my three thousand dollar custom guitars for a POS budget slab... Sure, Pauly, whatever you say...

Re: This cracked me up

I've got the inside scoop. When he was in Mudvayne with the painted face that was his alter ego. Now that he is not painted anymore he is back to his normal ibanez playing self.

Makes sense to me. They did change their stage names a couple times, as well as their makeup before dropping it all completely. The Gothic Gibsons suited his image at the time much better, and since they were never extremely successful, it was unlikely he'd get a really nice endorsement deal.
