The first one was more than enough, but to be fair, I did check out the 2nd one. Not my cup of tea.

Re: This Is The Future.........

Not mine either- but unlike so many bands today - these guys REALLY PLAY WELL.
Also, the USA market is last to learn anything cool going on in other places in the world. COB is friking HUGE in Europe.

At 50, I'm not a big fan of this type of music - but I do recognize talent - and these guys are really good. I would buy stock in this band if I could because I just know they are going to own the US metal market within a few years if they keep going at this rate. The structure of "Angels Don't Kill" is pure classical music- and you can't fake that stuff. Someone has a real education in this band....

Re: This Is The Future.........

They've been in the US market for years. Hell, their early stuff was great until the Hatecrew album; however, Laiho, their lead guitarist, ripped on Petrucci and Dream Theater--which is very sophomoric to say the least. They aren't bad, but they're easy to grow out of.

Yeah, I saw the DT article with Leiho putting his foot in his mouth last year.
DT has been around 22 years. When I say 'next big thing' I'm not talking about how long they've been a band - it's when they will break regarding unit sales. That's what drives the market - correctly choosing the next hot band that makes millions is all that matters to the record companies.

Re: This Is The Future.........

I have a few of COB's older albums, and I like pretty much everything up to HCDR, and I didn't really care that he said John Petrucci is boring in the magazine article.

I don't think he ripped him, he just expressed his opinion, which is getting harder and harder to do these days.

But I definitely do think he's a good guitar player and that they are a good band.

I'm not a big fan of them, they know what they're doing, that's for sure. I don't really go for any type of arrogance, which Laiho seems to have in spades. Dudes got chops though.

Not my thing, but ok.

The stage show of flashing letters and loads of pyros reminds me of Motley Crue!

Re: This Is The Future.........

They have been here quite awhile. I love their old stuff, could care less for their most recent cd and Alexi needs an attitude adjustment. Saw them in december and they played excellent and even had the flashing COB lights.

COB rocks. Their old stuff is killer. I don't know if some of you guys are joking, but...

All attitudes aside, Alexi plays one hell of a guitar.
