Tommy Emmanuel's electric stuff

I cranked Tommy's album "The Journey" on my iPod on the way to work today, and it got me thinking it was time to start a new Tommy thread. For those who may only have heard his stunning acoustic playing, his electric stuff has a bit of an Eric Johnson vibe.

He played in my home town a few times when I was a teenager and it was so cool to see him do all this crazy stuff up close. For a while Fender made a Tommy Emmanuel signature Telecaster which was pretty dang cool, but would have been cooler if it was like his blue Custom Shop tele with Bartolinis, or his beaten up 66.

I remember getting my Telecaster and my first delay pedal around the time that album came out, and trying to rip off his tone on the title track with my Boss DS-1 and a dodgy solid state Australian-made Monarch amp. I wasn't very successful!

I just reviewed his latest, Center Stage, on CD and DVD for a magazine here. I understand it came out in June or something in the US on FN, but it's only just come out here now. Amazing stuff.
