Van Halen & David Lee Roth Reunion?

This from the It Sounds Too Good To Be True Department: I heard on the radio the other day that VH and DLR have reunited and have gone into the studio to record a couple songs for a greatest hits CD. Then they're going to tour. The DJ said that this wasn't a rumor, but fact. (As if saying a rumor isn't a rumor makes it not a rumor.) Anyone else hear this?

I started to going to concerts just after Roth left, so I never saw them together. I don't go much anymore, but I would go to this one!

That CD came out years ago.

I heard that exact same rumour.
Also in the other part of that rumour Eddie said that Van Halen and DLR are done.

I've only heard the rumor with regards to Hagar.

I'd honestly doubt that Roth will ever be in the band again. Given the disaster that the previous reunion turned out to be- this seems unlikely. Not only did both camps reaffirm that they still hated certain things about the others, but there's not a lot to return for. Dave's voice has changed considerably. He can't scream like he used to. The common argument is that Dave can't sing anymore. Actually- he sings more than he ever did. But he (like most older men) can't yell like he used to. His new album Diamond Dave affirms that he still has his own style and can sing. Van Halen on the other hand has been cooling down with each successive release since 5150. I doubt he has much left in the tank either with regards to making hard rock.

Let's call it a day before anymore of the legacy is tarnished.

Man I've been singing that song since VH3. I wish they would just stop while I can still listen to the old stuff without much shame.

Since DLR is taking his second stab at having a full-time show in Vegas, I doubt he'll be up for a reunion anytime soon

Wow, I could only wish for a DLR - VH reunion. I wonder what the audience would look like at one of their shows?

Ed loves releasing/announcing things on March 16, his son's birthday. Therefore, I predict we'll hear an official announcement on Tuesday.

I've been expecting SH for a few months since he and Michael Anthony were working on a project together that I thought Satch was supposed to be involved with.

Quite frankly, I'm all about DLR myself.

Much as I love DLR, I really do think they've been going in polar opposite directions since 1985. Dave still has the humour and his voice may not be great live, but in the studio it still cuts it. The final two tracks of Greatest Hits 1 were dominated by DLRs style. It could have been any backing band.

However, as VH stands, I think they HAVE to return to Sammy. He may lack the style and humour, but the guy can really sing. Better than practically any of his contemporaries, no matter what you think of him. In many ways, it's Sammy that's made the best of the breakup, indeed he's made far more progress in the last 8 years than either VH or DLR. His solo albums get better every time and the two DVDs are absolute corkers. He is also tight with Michael Anthony these days so if VH are to get Mike back, they'll need Sammy, and vice versa. It's a sad fact, but I suspect the VH brothers need Sammy and Mike far more than they need the brothers at the moment.
