Velvet Revolver..... What do you guys think???

Ok...as we all know, Scott Weiland from STP fame is sober for a few minutes here, and Velvet Revolver's album is coming out next Tuesday....

Velvet Revolver is:
Slash from GNR
Duff from GNR
Matt from GNR
Weiland from STP
And I believe the other guitarist is from Infectious Groove??

What do you guys think of the new single??

How do you think the band will do overall???

Will this be a one album.....Weiland back in rehab/jail before the years over??

Or do you see them as a thriving band for years to come???

If you go to mtv.com you can preview (i.e. listen to) the entire album. It's not bad. I really like Slither (the single) but the rest'd probably have to grow on me a bit.

I think that there might be a chance that lead guitar is taking back its honorable throne in this era of no-lead-guitar-allowed-in-rock era. Of course i'm reffering to those commercial songs. haha..

If the amount of play Velvet Revolver, The Darkness, etc. have been getting up here is any indication, then I'd say you may be on to something.

Thank God Slash is still around. Seriously. The guy was one of the first guitarists who made me want to play, and one of the only guitar players I have been able to look up to, playing-wise, since I first realized what guitar playing was.

I really like the new stuff, not as much as Guns (my favorite band for the longest time), but the guitar work is great, and Slash's solos still rock harder than can be imagined by the human mind. There's just always something about his solos and leads that are just...I dunno...perfect.

And the other guitar player is Dave Krushner, formerly of Suicidal Tendencies and, I think, Infectious Grooves.

btw, both guitarists, and even Duff are listed on http://www.fernandesguitars.com. I know the one guy uses a Ravelle all the time, and Slash is listed as having a sustainer something-or-other.

I love them, I think Slash is a complete God! I mean how much cooler could you look in black leather, top hat, afro, cigarette and low-slung les paul? There is no cooler look. I just love the way he plays as if he doesnt give a toss! Hes a very subdue man in the interviews I have seen - very modest about his own work.

I thought they came across rather badly in that interview, made them seem a little arrogant, and kinda just plain jerks

Finally I get to see Slash, Duff and Matt on heavy rotation on MTV again! Ahhh....those were the days, I was only 9 years old, but I remember when Estranged was at the top of the top 20.

Slash is the reason I picked up the guitar. he's just one of those players who you immedialtely recognize

awesome quote from the total guitar review of this album:
"Contraband harks back to a gentler time, when men were drunk, women were topless and the hotel TV was only one JD away from landing in the swimming pool"

rock and f***in roll!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always been a fan of Scott Weiland....so hell yeah!

And Slash frickin rules......though their stuff sounds more like old-school STP than GnR, imo, but that's just perfectly fine for my tastes
