Weiner/Balducci Show in St. Louis

Well, it is 1:20am in St. Louis and I'm just returning home from the Dave and Rob show....holy crap what an awesome experience that was. If anyone is available to go to the show tomorrow, make that today...in Chicago, you had better get your arse down there and go see this show. These guys are the real deal. St. Louis is not a hot bed of instrumental rock by any stretch, as was evident by the 10 members of the audience, but these guys played their hearts out for nearly 3 hours. Not only that, but they made themselves available both before and after the show to talk about gear and guitars...Rob even gave me a personal tour of his amp settings and how he runs things through his Cornford.

Dave will probably go down saying that it was an off night for him, he was clearly dissappointed in his set...but someone who plays at that level has what can best be described as a detachment from reality and has lost a bit of perspective...to us mere mortals it sounded incredibly alive, fresh and utterly inspiring...and I'll admit, a bit deafening, the boy plays loud with a capital "L." Rob's set was equally inspiring, and being a fellow Cornford amp owner, I was very interested to see him put his amp through its paces...I was not disappointed. His tone was impeccable.

Great show from two great musicians, and more importantly, from two guys who are totally grounded and in touch with their surroundings. Experiences like this don't happen often enough, this was special and memorable...keep it up gents, what you do matters.

I wish they were touring near Seattle. Sounds like it was a good show. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Lucky. It sounds like one hell of a great show. I just seen some pics of the show on www.sevenstring.org, Rob Balducci's 7-string is simply beautiful. I would love to see him play as well as Dave Weiner who has some very nice guitars as well.

Re: Weiner/Balducci Show in St. Louis

Dave played his orange/silver one all night in St. Louis. He had the maroon one up there as a backup. He had his VHT heads with the orange mesa 2x12 cabs. His tone was dead on with his album, very mid focused with not a ton of gain...but crap it was loud. His tone was fantastic. No green one in sight, I like that one.

Rob had his quilted maple seven string, played that on the opening tune, then switched to the purple one with the reverse headstock and stayed there the rest of the night, I think. He was running his cornford mk50h through a cornford 2x12 cab and his tone was just sick. Gotta love those cornfords in capable hands.

Rob's got a new set up pedal-wise, he's using an axxess electronics switching system to control his amp channels and effects.
