Went to the Steve Vai show last night...

and hey guys, he played the new Bad Horsie jem about 70% of the show. For those of you that want one, get your orders in now because I'm sure there will be alot sold as this tour makes it's way around the US.

He opened with the double-neck version, I noticed it has silver screws/ rivets around the outside of the body about every one and a half inches. I don't know if that was aftermarket or not?

He had the double neck custom made from Ibanez. I saw him 3/1/05, awesome show huh? I noticed too that he plays the mirror tops more than evo and flo too. In our EVO session he said he prefers the black jems (which are the mirror tops, he doesn't call them Bad Horsies, but calls them black instead.).

No he hasn't retired EVO, just doesn't use it as much. He like the black ones these days (Mirror tops).

He better be doing a UK tour sometime soon. Its ages since he was over here solo. Probably have to go all the way to Manchester, but who cares, its Vai!!! Although Huddersfield Town Hall would be cool, right Steve (Andelusion, not Vai!)

Re: Went to the Steve Vai show last night...

Well, I just got back from the Boston, MA show. I'm just blown away. I saw Steve once before on G3 '03 tour, but the best way to see him is doing his own full set -- in my opinion.

We all know that his shows are phenominal and, his band is fantastic -- they seem to get along and enjoy playing together so well. He's still so down to earth, and I get the feeling that he just leaves all of himself out there on that stage.

So, the show was great even though there were some serious sound issues well into Steve's set. Once those were settled it still sounded just OK, but it didn't take away from the performance for me.

He didn't use the new guitars anywhere near 70% time -- mostly Flo & Evo. He's named the new guitars, but I couldn't make them out.

If you're not sure whether you're going to catch this tour as it comes near you, do it. Best show I've seen for $25!

When you say this, you mean hes playing his prototype (with leds and sustainer), or "regular production" black ones?

Does this mean that we're finally hearing Steve play Breed pickups?
