I'm probably the only one here who hasn't seen it. But I do know that it's not a famous/popular enough movie for them to re-release it on DVD. Just like many other older movies, they just aren't bothering to release a DVD version.

I'd look harder for it. If they'll release movies like Red Dawn on DVD there's absolutely no reason why Crossroads wouldn't be released also. The older less desirable movies released on DVD are usually under $10, and although they don't include a bunch of extra junk, perfect video and 6.1 channel audio, they're still better than VHS.

BTW, I like Red Dawn.

The best thing to do would be to write to the studio that produced the movie. For an older and not-so-successful movie like that, i wouldn't expect it to be released until there's a critical mass of cult followers who have asked for it, so the studio can recoup the investment they'll make by re-mastering it and producing the DVD.

Columbia had the movie's rights (Crossroads in '86) but you'd have to think w/ Crossroads (2002 w/ spears released by different studio) released, the outlook of the "Crossroads" with Vai hitting video stores remains bleak. There is usually little demand (and profit) for these old flicks and the actors/actresses careers are not such that people demand the back catalog of their B-movies. It also hasn't been on laserdisc in a decade, which means noone cared about this movie for home release in a long, long time.

I'll be shocked if it's released on DVD. It would be nice to be wrong here.

Uh...probably never.

The thing about transfers is that you'd be shocked at what does and doesn't get transferred. Complete and total crap like "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man" will get the DVD treatment and a cult classic like "PCU" won't.

The other issue is that there was a movie out recently with the same title. Since the star of that film has very high visibility in the public the odds are that they won't do something that would potentially confuse the masses...like...releasing a DVD with the same title but has that kid from "THe Karate Kid" in it.

If you're hell-bent on seeing it in DVD format then do it yourself. Get a good converter box, a VCR with some nice clean heads, a new VHS copy of the movie and a system with plenty of drive space and a DVD burner and make one yourself.

I'd rather have a DVD as part of the secret jewel box that features the last 15 minutes of the movie as well as all the unused material from the duel.

Did anyone say, keep dreaming?

More than likely it will get released on DVD. After the crap I've seen re-released... I'd be completely shocked to not see it come out on DVD. Just give it some time.

I can't believe that this was the first thing that popped up in my head!

I sure hope that we will se the "real" crossroads out someday though... But with actors like Karate Kid (Ralph M.) there is not much hope.

I got an idea........... Why dont we all go in to buy a brand new video of the movie "Crossroads" for someone that has a DVD burner and either a "S-video out" or fiber optic out VCR to their computer to burn a DVD for a few of us. We could make our ownslip cover for a DVD case and DVD and then call it good! :-) I would buy one!!!

Any takers?
