I thought about this one for a little while. These are the guys that come to mind. Again, they're in no particular order.
Jeff Keith
(Tesla)
David Lee Roth
Michael Tait
(DC Talk) -
ever heard of him? Them?
Jamie Rowe
(Guardian) -
I
know
you've never heard of him. Very similar to Jeff Keith.
Sebastian Bach
Christopher Cross
Neil Diamond
Eh, I could probably through in
Don Dokken
too.

Freddy Mercury was the greatest ofcourse...so much energy.
Ron Thal
aka Bumblefoot is also a great singer.
Haven't read
Jeff Buckley
's name so I'll just put the guy on the thread...
James Labrie is also very good...if you don't start laughing because of his canadian accent ofcourse

Michael Jackson, circa Off the Wall, BAD, Thriller and even Dangerous.
Personal life aside...what a voice, I mean really:
what
a voice.

I like Bono the best, and I think the guy out of Red Hot Chili peppers has a great voice (sorry! I don't know his name). Also, Thom Yorke has one of those voices which can't be imitated...great sounding voice there.

Anthony Kiedis (or Keidis)
I don't really have any favourite singers as such, as i find more recently i listen to guitar music. My favourite certainly isn't Satch though, the singing on 'I Belive' leaves a lot to be desired imo. (not that i can talk, i can't sing to save my life)

I gotta agree with someone else on this thread,
i love a great metal voice like kip winger and in some songs i think hetfield is really suited to his style ( especially on the Load album) but for me, no voice is as pure as the late Eva Cassidy, and no-one can write a song and excecute it with as much emotive smoothness as Sting, the man is a dude, check 'Desert Rose' and 'Ghost Story' for some of his recent greatness (he has moved on somewhat since the police! )
P.S - The police were still pretty damn cool!

Russell Allen from Symphony X, on The Devine Wings of Tragedy, he does some Mreddy Mercury type harmonies that will blow your doors off.
If you listen, he does every voice in the choir and its a fairly complex arrangement.
Freddy Mercury as has been stated a few dozen times as well.
James Labrie of Dream Theater and Mullmuzzler fame.
Tori Amos... she's got that sexy, breathy, thang happenin'
I know there are more, but I'm drawing a blank right now...

Wow, once you start thinking about it, you could make a list that could go on and on. First ones that come to my mind:
Axl Rose (in his prime)
Jon Bon Jovi
Sebastian Bach
John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Mick Jagger
Neil Diamond
Robert Plant
Eddie Vedder
Geoff Tate
Rob Thomas
Bob Seger
Jack Russell
Ronnie Van Zant
Don Henley
Sarah Mc Lachlan
Much to hard to name a favorite. Great topic!
