Wow, great question. I reckon Hendrix, it's that look of "searching" in his face during a solo, like he's a heartbeat away from finding "It". The eyelids closed, the eyes moving slowly beneath them, the head tilted back, and the mouth slightly open. He's painting with music, totally in the moment.

Steve's facial gestures are cool but they're the bloody same gestures he does from gig to gig, finely choreographed and painstakingly practiced! (uhmmm....probably)

I love when Satch does his harmonic squeal though.

Joe Satriani always seems to me to have a "Weeeeeee, this is fun " look in his face

But of course, the best guitar face ever: Buckethead

I remember seeing Dana Carvey one time on Jay Leno with an acoustic guitar demonstrating the "ohh my god did you just hear that!?!?" guitar face. he's going along stumming chords, then he comes to a minor chord and his mouth drops open and his eyes get really big and he looks around all surprised, like "where did that chord come from?" Pretty funny.

Actually, I take it back (some of it anyway). I've been noticing my guitar face for the last couple of days - and please note I've been shredding an absolute ton - and I make the same faces time and time again, at the same points in the songs.

So...I'm willing to entertain that Steve is doing just that, and I apologise for leading you astray with my wicked silver tongue and/or keyboard. I was an ass, a handsome charismatic ass, but still an ass.

btw, look at those Eddie pics, just look at 'em! That's Eddie Van Halen!

Don't appologise Hamand, it's true.

He's the only person I 've seen live who I was so familiar with what he was doing. It's just like watching a live video of his.
Hey, it works though.
