Who's heard the new Guns n' Roses album?

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked. Cant find a thread though.
Anyway, heard it today on their myspace page. It's ok I guess. the funniest thing is the Epi Slash advert on the page. Is someone taking the piss?!

I heard one cut with Buckethead and it sounded great. I caught it in the middle so I didn't know who the band was - but after years of studying Buckethead's style I knew instantly it was him on guitar - then after they said it was Axle's new album.

If that cut is any indication, it should be an excellent record and worth the 10 year wait.

I am just not interested in the GNR CD.
There comes a time when a personality becomes bigger than the music and Axl is a prime example of it, and the music suffers because of it.

The guys has alienated almost all of his fans.

I think the only way for him to pay the record company back for this debacle is to reunite with the original band minus Steven Adler.

Slash Izzy and Duff are gonna be offered so much money it will be rediculous.
Axl will come out and say that he has missed the other guys and BLAH BLAH BLAH, he's giving the fans what they want.

Can you say MONEY TRAIN.

Sorry people, but I had downloaded the album months ago, and it was really a fantastic album. Great songs, awesome guitar, and fantastic production overall.

Open your mind and forget the fact that Axel is a has been. Cause his voice is as good as it always was.

After downloading it. I will definatly buy the CD, because I truely enjoyed the album and it deserves money.

Thats just my opinion, but I did enjoy it..

I bought it today - JB Hi Fi here in Melbourne has it on sale several days before the release date. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but I'll give it a flogging overnight and write a review on my blog tomorrow.

As a G'N'R album it is terrible. As a rock album it is lame, I absolutely hated it and I was gutted because I really wanted to like it. Sorry to be so negative on a friday...

Unfortunate for you, cause it gives me pleasure listening to it. I never expected a GnR album like appetite or Lies, and why would it be. its years later and the band has completely changed.

I never expected Appetite or Lies. What my issue is, is that I will not purchase a CD from a pompous arrogant has been who has failed to understand that he is not bigger than other bands.

How many CD's has Slash released in the time it has taken him to finish his masterpiece?
How Many CD's has Dream Theater made and toured and supported in the time it has taken him to release one CD? 4 or 5.

Axl, has cancelled more shows with his primadonna bull**** than anyone else I have ever heard of. He is the love child of Elton John and Mariah Carey.

For the amount of time it has taken him to make this CD it would have to eclipse Pink Floyd's Dark Side, or Ozzy's Diary of a Madman for me to even listen to it.

The CD would have to be the shining beacon that all other CD's would aspire to be.

There is one way for the companies to get their money back, and I have said it already, and it is gonna happen.
Axl, will fire Buckethead and Bumblefoot and replace the entire band with the original members.
They will then have to sell out arena's to payback the money that was thrown into the sinkhole that is Chinese Democracy.

Re: Who's heard the new Guns n' Roses album?

Just my two cents, which only pertains to me. Anyone else who like this, more power to them...

Not interested at all...with all the hype, time, setbacks, and BS associated with it, there is no way in seven hells that it can measure up, which is what it is going to need to do. Let alone just equal Appetite, which in my opinion was a mediocre record with negligent production on it, at the right moment in time!

It is going to have to be everything to everyone and I don't feel there is any way for that to be...So why bother with it?

If he could sell (1) copy to everyone in China, he may have a chance at recouping some money. LOL

Re: Who's heard the new Guns n' Roses album?

Why is it that everytime a thread is opened with questions or just plain anticipation of a cd, out come the people who want it to be what something else was in the past? The same happened with metallica and now people are saying things like "Not interested at all...with all the hype, time, setbacks, and BS associated with it, there is no way in seven hells that it can measure up, which is what it is going to need to do. Let alone just equal Appetite, which in my opinion was a mediocre record with negligent production on it, at the right moment in time!"

Do you all think people give 2 sh1ts about it? Bottom line is, if you like the album, buy it or download it, and if you don't, then don't. Does anyone really care about the fact that the new record sounds nothing like apetite for destruction? I personally don't and I haven't even listened to any of the tracks on the new record to even say yea or nay.

I completely understand what your'e saying.
However , if there is gonna be a post about the CD then don't get upset if opinions don't go (1) way. There are gonna be those of us who don't buy into the hype, but that is no reason to stop us from expressing our opinions.

I don't expect Metallica to ever do another Master, and I don't expect Ozzy to ever make another Diary. And I don't expect the new GNR to be Appetite.
Appetite hit at the right time with the production being rough, and it was different from all of the polished turds that were coming out at that time.

Hell, I'll just stick with some ole Thiz Lizzy and call it a day.

Re: Who's heard the new Guns n' Roses album?

I'm finally getting a chance to listen to it now. So far I like it. I'm really digging 'Better.'

I was never a huge Guns N' Roses fan so for me this album doesn't carry the weight of previous releases. I never bought into "so and so is a jerk so I won't buy their albums/watch their movies/read their books/whatever."
